The study of transient and variable events, including novae, active galactic nuclei, and black hole binaries, has historically been a fruitful path for elucidating the evolutionary mechanisms of our universe. The study of such events in the millimeter and submillimeter is, however, still in its infancy. Submillimeter observations probe a variety of materials, such as optically thick dust, which are hard to study in other wavelengths.

Air pollution, comprising a variable mixture of gaseous and solid particulate material, represents a serious, unmet, global health issue. The Global Burden of Disease study reported that 12% of all deaths occurring in 2019 were related to ambient air pollution, with particulate matter often considered to be the leading cause of harm. As of 2024, over 90% of the world's population are exposed to excessive amounts of particulate matter, based on WHO maximum exposure level guidelines.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), a leading cause of dementia, presents a formidable global health challenge intensified by the aging population. This review encapsulates the evolving landscape of AD diagnosis and treatment with a special focus on the innovative role of fluid biomarkers. Pathologically, AD is marked by amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques and neurofibrillary tangles of hyperphosphorylated tau, which lead to synaptic dysfunction, neuronal loss, and cognitive decline.
