Aim Of The Study: The objective of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the efficacy of Transversus Abdominis Plane Block (TAPB) in pain control and recovery after open hepatic surgery.
Methods: We searched for the articles in PubMed, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library published before March 2022. We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing TAPB with a placebo in adult patients after open liver surgery. Meta-analysis was conducted in RevMan 5.4. Methodological quality was assessed via the Jadad/Oxford scale and Cochrane Risk of Bias tool.
Results: Five RCTs with 347 patients were included. All studies had an acceptable Jadad score or higher. For pain at rest at 24hours postoperatively, the standardized mean difference (SMD) with a 95% confidence interval (CI) was -1.08 [-1.97, -0.18], P-value 0.02, favoring TAPB. Models for total opioid consumption, nausea and vomiting, and duration of hospital stay did not demonstrate a difference between the groups. The model for time to first flatus favored TAPB with SMD with a 95% CI of -1.48 [-2.72, -0.24], P-value 0.02.
Discussion: Our meta-analysis of five RCTs favored TAPB regarding pain control at rest and time to first flatus. Due to the small sample size and considerable heterogeneity, more RCTs are needed.

Children with unilateral cerebral palsy (CP) exhibit abnormal movements due to atypical pelvic movements and weakness of trunk muscles. We investigated the effects of abdominal muscle strengthening and pelvic control exercises on trunk control, abdominal muscle thickness change rate, and pelvic movement in children with unilateral CP. Fourteen children with unilateral CP were randomly divided into two groups, and abdominal muscle strengthening and pelvic control exercises were applied to the experimental group, and general physical therapy was applied to the control group, 30 min per session, twice a week, for a total of 8 weeks, respectively.

Purpose: This paper presents a deep learning-based multi-label segmentation network that extracts a total of three separate adipose tissues and five different muscle tissues in CT slices of the third lumbar vertebra and additionally improves the segmentation of the intermuscular fat.
Method: Based on a self-created data set of 130 patients, an extended Unet structure was trained and evaluated with the help of Dice score, IoU and Pixel Accuracy. In addition, the interobserver variability for the decision between ground truth and post-processed segmentation was calculated to illustrate the relevance in everyday clinical practice.

The management of postoperative pain in pediatric patients undergoing emergency surgical procedures, particularly in non-pediatric hospitals, presents significant challenges due to the unique physiological requirements of children. The utilization of opioid analgesia may result in severe complications, necessitating a transition toward multimodal analgesia, which integrates various pain management strategies to enhance effectiveness while mitigating adverse effects. Locoregional anesthesia techniques, such as fascial plane blocks, provide targeted pain alleviation, reducing dependence on opioids.

Background: Despite TSH suppressive therapy improve the prognosis for the patient with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), there is an increasing concern regarding the potentially harmful effects of lifelong TSH suppression. Therefore, we aimed to examine the changes in body composition under TSH suppression in postmenopausal women with DTC.
Methods: The body composition was assessed by the volumes as following; fat tissues of the epicardium and abdominal visceral and subcutaneous areas; bilateral psoas muscle or thigh muscle.
