Background: Prior research has demonstrated the positive association between social support and cognition. Specifically, greater social support has been linked with improved cognitive performance and reduced risk of dementia. In particular, emotional support has been identified as a key dimension in the relationship between social support and cognition.

Background: Social health factors have been robustly associated with better cognitive health in older adults; however, less is known about how social network size affects the relationship between in-vivo biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology and brain aging outcomes. We examined the independent and interactive relationships between plasma pTau181 and social network size on memory function and medial temporal lobe (MTL) volume in older adults.

Method: Participants were 58 community-dwelling older adults (mean age = 75.

Department of Cognitive Neurology, Montañeses, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Background: LatAm-FINGERS - the first non-pharmacological multicenter randomized clinical trial in Latin America - is a valuable opportunity to study lifestyle in a heterogeneous and multiethnic population exposed to a large number of cardiovascular risk factors. Our aims are to study the risk distribution in the LatAm-FINGERS cohort and to explore the relationship between LIfestyle for BRAin Health (LIBRA) and cognition.

Method: We calculated the risk of dementia using the LIBRA score in the entire cohort (n = 1200).

Background: Loneliness and depression among older adults are linked to a higher likelihood of chronic diseases, deterioration of physical function, and compromised quality of life. LGBTQ older adults are known to experience social isolation and mental distress at higher rates than their heterosexual counterparts, and those with cognitive impairment may be particularly susceptible to loneliness and depression. However, there is limited knowledge regarding the risk and protective factors for loneliness and depression among LGBTQ older adults living with cognitive impairment.
