Comparison of the efficacy and safety of docetaxel plus capecitabine versus docetaxel plus epirubicin for human epidermal growth factor 2 -negative breast cancer: a meta-analysis.

BMC Womens Health

March 2025

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Molecular Imaging, Collaborative Innovation Center for Biomedicines & School of Medical Instruments, Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Sciences, Shanghai, 201318, China.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of docetaxel plus capecitabine (TX) and docetaxel plus epirubicin (TE) in the treatment of human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2)-negative breast cancer.

Methods: Relevant studies assessing the efficacy and safety of TX versus TE were systematically searched from PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Web of Science databases until February 6, 2025. Progression-free survival (PFS), and clinical response, including the overall response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), and grade 3/4 adverse events were compared.

Biofabrication of Tunable 3D Hydrogel for Investigating the Matrix Stiffness Impact on Breast Cancer Chemotherapy Resistance.

ACS Biomater Sci Eng

March 2025

Department of Laboratory Medicine, the Second Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou 510180, China.

Matrix stiffness is a key factor in breast cancer progression, but its impact on cell function and response to treatment is not fully understood. Here, we developed a stiffness-tunable hydrogel-based three-dimensional system that recapitulates the extracellular matrix and physiological properties of human breast cancer in vitro. Adjusting the ratio of GelMA to PEGDA in the hydrogel formulation enabled the fine-tuning of matrix stiffness across a range of 7 to 52 kPa.

Background: Breast cancer is the most common malignancy diagnosed in women worldwide. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive subtype, accounting for nearly one third of all breast cancers in India. The addition of pembrolizumab to neoadjuvant chemotherapy improved the pathological response and event free survival in patients with TNBC.

Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a serious microangiopathy resulting from diabetes. Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Danshen) is commonly used to treat cardiovascular diseases in clinics in China. However, whether it can also be used for DR treatment, along with its primary active compounds and underlying mechanisms of action, remains unclear.

The excessive accumulation of lipid droplets within hepatocytes stands as a hallmark characteristic of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). Selenium (Se) nanoparticles (NPs) have garnered considerable attention for their notable bioavailability, minimal toxicity, and exceptional antioxidant properties. However, a critical limitation lies in the propensity of SeNPs to aggregate into the biologically inactive elemental Se, thereby constraining their utility.
