In this study, reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization is utilized in order to synthesize novel hyperbranched poly(oligoethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate-co-tert-butyl methacrylate-co-methacrylic acid) (H-[P(OEGMA-co-tBMA-co-MAA)]) copolymers in combination with selective hydrolysis reactions. The copolymers showing amphiphilicity induced by the polar OEGMA and hydrophobic tBMA monomeric units, and polyelectrolyte character due to MAA units, combined with unique macromolecular architecture were characterized by physicochemical techniques, such as size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and H-NMR spectroscopy. The hyperbranched copolymers were investigated in terms of their ability to self-assemble into nanostructures when dissolved in aqueous media. Dynamic light scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy revealed multimolecular aggregates of nanoscale dimensions with low critical aggregation concentration, the size and mass of which depend on copolymer composition and solution conditions, whereas zeta potential measurements indicated pH sensitive features. In addition, aiming to evaluate their potential use as nanocarriers, the copolymers were studied in terms of their drug encapsulation and protein complexation ability utilizing curcumin and lysozyme, as a model hydrophobic drug and a model cationic protein, respectively.

Polyoxometalates (POMs) are composed of nanometric metal-oxide anions and have rich solution chemistry. In this class, Keggin POMs have been identified as the most influential inorganic additives for aqueous nonionic soft matter systems. POMs being at the borderline of classical ions and charged colloids possess fascinating solution properties; the present work aims to delve deeper into the interactions between nanoions and nonionic soft matters from a spectroscopic point of view.

The analysis of the microstructure of supramolecular copolymers is difficult because of their dynamic character. Here, benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxamide (BTA) co-assemblies are analysed by ion mobility - mass spectrometry (IM-MS) to reveal the presence of various sequences. For example, the IM-MS mobilogram for hexamers composed of 4 units from a first monomer and 2 units from a second monomer is a broad distribution due to the presence of 9 possible isomeric sequences, which can be sorted out based on calculated collision cross-sections.

Architecturally hindered crystallization of bottlebrush graft copolymers offers a reaction- and solvent-free pathway for creating injectable elastomers with tissue-mimetic softness. Currently, injectable materials involve solvents and chemical reactions, leading to uncontrolled swelling, leaching of unreacted moieties, and side reactions with tissue. To address this issue, bottlebrush copolymers with a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) amorphous block and crystallizable poly(lactic acid) (PLA) grafted chains (A--B) were synthesized, with grafted chains of controlled length arranged along the backbone at controlled spacing.

Polyethers are versatile materials extensively used in advanced as well as everyday applications. The incorporation of primary amine functionality into polyethers is particularly attractive due to its well-established coupling chemistries. However, the inherent nucleophilicity of amine group poses a challenge in the anionic ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of epoxides and requires the use of robust protecting groups that can withstand the harsh conditions of ROP without triggering undesirable side reactions.

In this work, laponite (LAP) was used to develop the silver (Ag) based nanocomposite for improved anti-bacterial action and wound healing properties. The amphiphilic co-polymers such as PLGA polymer was embedded with the surface of LAP molecules and polyethyleneimine (PEI) through the interaction of hydrophobic binding and it was formed as LAP/PLA-PEG/PEI formulation through the coupling chemistry. The Ag nanoparticles was loaded into formulation to develop LAP/PLA-PEG/PEI/Ag nanocomposite and characterized by different analytical techniques.
