AI Article Synopsis

  • Genus s.l. has been split into multiple genera, but the taxonomic and phylogenetic relationships of some former members remain unclear.
  • A specific taxon, nom. illegit. ≡, which is endemic to Central Dagestan, was not included in prior studies and lacks clear phylogenetic relationships.
  • Molecular phylogenetic analysis revealed that the newly established genus contains related species that are morphologically distinct, along with detailed distribution information for the newly categorized taxa.

Article Abstract

Genus s.l. was recently split into several genera of different phylogenetic placements within Salsoloideae, but both taxonomic and phylogenetic relationships of some parts of the former broadly defined still need to be clarified. A remarkable example is nom. illegit. ≡ , a taxon with tricky taxonomic history that was only recently transferred to the genus (tribe Caroxyleae). , a narrow endemic of Central Dagestan (Russian Federation), was not even included in previous molecular studies of Salsoloideae and therefore still lacks an appropriate estimation of its relationships. Molecular phylogeny constructed here using nuclear and plastid DNA sequence data clearly placed and as sister taxa and the clade , (), () as a sister of the monophyletic . All three species are distinct from from a morphological standpoint. In conclusion, a new genus, , was established for these taxa. The detailed distribution of is presented for the first time.

Invertebrate iridescent virus 6 (IIV6) is the type species of the Iridovirus genus in the Betairidovirinae subfamily of the Iridoviridae family. Transcription of the 215 predicted IIV6 genes is temporally regulated, dividing the genes into three kinetic classes: immediate-early (IE), delayed-early (DE), and late (L). So far, the transcriptional class has been determined for a selection of virion protein genes and only for three genes the potential promoter regions have been analyzed in detail.

Echinococcosis is a zoonotic infection caused by cestode species of the genus Echinococcus, with limited treatment options. It is urgent to develop new anti-hydatid agent. In this paper, we reported anacardic acid (AA), a natural product isolated from the Brazilian cashew-nut shell liquid, which presented a high activity against metacestodes of Echinococcus multilocularis (E.

45S rDNA external transcribed spacer organization reveals new phylogenetic relationships in Avena genus.

PLoS One

September 2017

Linking Landscape, Environment, Agriculture and Food (LEAF), Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Universidade de Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal.

The genus Avena comprises four distinct genomes organized in diploid (AA or CC), tetraploid (AABB or AACC) and hexaploid species (AACCDD), constituting an interesting model for phylogenetic analysis. The aim of this work was to characterize 45S rDNA intergenic spacer (IGS) variability in distinct species representative of Avena genome diversity-A. strigosa (AA), A.

Aim: To study the molecular mechanism underlying the effect of aristolochic acid (AA), a major active component of plants from the Aristolochiaceae family using microarray analysis.

Methods: Human kidney (HK-2) cells were treated with AA (0, 10, 30, and 90 micromol/L) for 24 h, and the cell viability was measured by a 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. Complementary DNA microarrays were used to investigate the gene expression pattern of HK-2 cells exposed to AA in triplicate.
