Age-related hearing loss (AHL) is the most common sensory disorder amongst the older population. Inflammaging is a ≈chronic low-grade inflammation that worsens with age and is an early sign of AHL; however, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We used electrophysiological and genetic approaches to establish the importance of interleukin 6 (IL-6)-dependent inflammation in AHL.

In the presence of a high magnetic field, quantum Hall systems usually host both even- and odd-integer quantized states because of lifted band degeneracies. Selective control of these quantized states is challenging but essential to understand the exotic ground states and manipulate the spin textures. Here we demonstrate the quantum Hall effect in BiOSe thin films.

The Janus MoSH monolayer has attracted extensive attention from researchers; however, to our knowledge, there is no work yet to investigate the thermoelectric properties governed by electron-phonon (-ph) interactions of the Janus MoSH monolayer in detail, either experimentally or theoretically. In this work, we carry out first-principles calculations on the thermoelectric performance of the MoSH monolayer in the presence of -ph scattering by solving the Boltzmann transport equation iteratively. We find that by adjusting the Fermi level to the nearby band edge which corresponds to the van Hove singularity (VHS), the sign of the Seebeck coefficient of MoSH can be inverted and the value (figure of merit) increases about 13 times (from 0.

Dupilumab-associated ocular surface disease is a common clinical sign appearing in patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) just few months after dupilumab treatment start, developing in about 25% of patients. Atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC) is a well-identified clinical entity, defined as a chronic inflammatory disease of eye that affects 25%-40% of patients with AD. Most clinical signs of ocular involvement in AD patients treated with dupilumab overlaps the AKC symptoms and signs.

Introduction: Patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD) who are most likely to respond to the Janus kinase (JAK) 1/2 inhibitor baricitinib (BARI) are known to have an impacted body surface area (BSA) ≤ 40% and severe itch (numerical rating scale [NRS] ≥ 7], collectively termed 'BARI itch-dominant' patients. Our objective is to build on our previous work by providing a body region-specific, clinical characterization of the BARI itch-dominant patient at baseline and their response to BARI 4 mg.

Methods: BREEZE-AD7 was a phase 3 trial in adults with moderate-to-severe AD receiving placebo or 2 mg or 4 mg BARI in combination with topical corticosteroids.
