We utilize a diffusion-controlled wet chemical etching technique to fabricate microstructures from two-dimensional HgTe/(Hg,Cd)Te-based topological insulators. For this purpose, we employ a KI: I: HBr: HO-based etchant. Investigation of the side profile of the etched heterostructure reveals that HgTe quantum wells protrude from the layer stack as a result of the different etch rates of the layers. This constraint poses challenges for the study of the transport properties of edge channels in HgTe quantum wells. In order to achieve a smoother side profile, we develop a novel approach to the etching process involving the incorporation of a sacrificial design element in the etch mask. This limits the flow of charge carriers to the ions in the electrolyte during the etching process. The simplicity of the method coupled with the promising results achieved thereby should make it possible for the new approach introduced here to be applied to other semiconductor heterostructures.

Purpose Of Review: To review currently existing knowledge on a new type of antihypertensive treatment, small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting hepatic angiotensinogen.
Recent Findings: Targeting angiotensinogen synthesis in the liver with siRNA allows reaching a suppression of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) activity for up to 6 months after 1 injection. This might revolutionize antihypertensive treatment, as it could overcome non-adherence, the major reason for inadequate blood pressure control.

Objective: This study aims to analyze adverse drug events (ADE) related to romosozumab from the second quarter of 2019 to the third quarter of 2023 from FAERS database.
Methods: The ADE data related to romosozumab from 2019 Q2 to 2023 Q3 were collected. After data normalization, four signal strength quantification algorithms were used: ROR (Reporting Odds Ratios), PRR (Proportional Reporting Ratios), BCPNN (Bayesian Confidence Propagation Neural Network), and EBGM (Empirical Bayesian Geometric Mean).

An important part of the side effects of combined oral contraceptives (COC) usage is its psychological impact, which includes mood changes, anxiousness and depression. The psychological impacts are expected to be caused by physiological fluctuations of sex hormone levels during the menstrual cycle; this cycling is, however, suppressed in COC users. In our study, we assessed the differences in emotional awareness and anxiousness between women long term users of anti-androgenic COC (AA) and women with no COC use in their medical history (C).

Common treatment approaches for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) are associated with severe side effects due to the unfavorable biodistribution profile of potent chemotherapeutics. Here, we explored the potential of TNBC-targeting aptamer-decorated porous silicon nanoparticles (pSiNPs) as targeted nanocarriers for TNBC. A "salt-aging" strategy was employed to fabricate a TNBC-targeting aptamer functionalized pSiNP that was highly colloidally stable.

Super-refractory status epilepticus (SRSE) is defined as status epilepticus that persists or recurs after treatment with anesthetic agents for more than 24 hours, including cases with recurrent seizures on reduction or withdrawal of anesthetic drugs. Super-refractory status epilepticus presents a significant challenge for neurologists, particularly when standard treatments fail to achieve seizure control. Lacosamide, which has a unique mechanism involving modulating voltage-gated sodium channels by enhancing their slow inactivation, has emerged as a potential option for managing SRSE.
