The strain applied to transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) reduces their energy bandgap, and local strains result in a funnel-like band structure in which funneled excitons move toward the most strained region. Herein, a funnel device based on asymmetrically strained WS and MoS is reported. Asymmetric strains are induced by transferring the TMD flakes onto a fork-shaped SU-8 microstructure. Raman and photoluminescence spectra peaks are shifted according to the morphology of the SU-8 microstructure, indicating the application of asymmetric strains to the TMDs. To investigate whether funneled excitons can be converted to electrical currents, various devices are constructed by depositing symmetric and asymmetric electrodes onto the strained TMDs. The scanning photocurrent mapping images follow a fork-shaped pattern, indicating probable conversion of the funneled excitons into electrical currents. In the case of the funnel devices with asymmetric Au and Al electrodes, short-circuit current (I ) of WS is enhanced by the strains, whereas I of MoS is suppressed because the Schottky barrier lowers with increasing strain for the MoS . These results demonstrate that the funnel devices can be implemented using asymmetrically strained TMDs and the effect of strains on the Schottky barrier is dependent on the TMD used.

Objective: The primary aim of this study was to explore the efficacy of internet-based mindfulness interventions on the physical symptoms of people living with cancer, where physical symptoms are defined as distressing somatic experiences (eg fatigue, insomnia, and pain) regardless of the underlying cause.

In high-resolution mass spectrometry, an electrospray ionization source is often paired with an ion-funnel to enhance ion transmission. Although it is established that ions experience collision-induced dissociation as they pass through this device, the impact of gas-flow dynamics on ion fragmentation remains unexplored. In this communication we report the construction of a printed circuit board which mounts directly to the vacuum chamber of a mass spectrometer and produces the RF waveforms needed by many nonmass-selective devices such as ion guides and ion funnels. Our device is designed to replace a standard KF40 flange, can maintain vacuum chamber pressures of less than 10 Torr, and contains the circuitry of the open-source Wisconsin Oscillator RF power supply to generate RF waveforms of 1-4 MHz and up to 200 V. In this iteration of the Wisconsin Oscillator, we also introduce a variable resistor to control the output RF amplitude and show that its ion transmission capabilities are identical to those provided by commercial RF power supplies.

We developed a novel stentgraft system for less-invasive endovascular aortic arch repair.
