Introduction: Patient-centered communication is an essential skill in nursing, particularly in the care of older adult patients. However, generation Z nursing students, who primarily communicate through digital platforms, face unique challenges in adapting to traditional face-to-face communication with older adults. As a result, there is a need for teaching methods that align with this generation's learning style to enhance their communication skills.

For social sciences, recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have the potential to revolutionize the study of human behaviors by facilitating the creation of realistic agents characterized by a diverse range of individual differences. This research presents novel simulation studies assessing GPT-4's ability to role-play real-world individuals with diverse big five personality profiles. In simulation 1, emulated personality responses exhibited superior internal consistency, but also a more distinct and structured factor organization compared to the human counterparts they were based on.

Commonly used traditional didactic lecture in biochemistry being non-interactive has several disadvantages which students find boring and difficult to retain. This study reviews the potential of role play to teach biochemistry effectively. Studies published till June 2024 on the topic role play in medical education and biochemistry were searched using 'Ovid Discovery' software showing studies available in PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases.

Simulated participants (SPs) are often employed to teach communication skills in medical education. Although there is a large number of qualitative and/or noncomparative studies in this field, there is no current evidence for the effectiveness of this teaching method based on quantitative comparative meta-data. The aim of this review was to evaluate the effectiveness of SP-based teaching on patient-centered communication skills in medical education compared with traditional teaching formats such as lecture or peer role play focusing on quantitative and comparative data.
