The great potential of artificial optoelectronic devices that are capable of mimicking biosynapse functions in brain-like neuromorphic computing applications has aroused extensive interest, and the architecture design is decisive yet challenging. Herein, a new architecture of p-type CuZnSnS@BiOBr nanosheets embedded in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) films (CZTS@BOB-PMMA) is presented acting as a switching layer, which not only shows the bipolar resistive switching features (SET/RESET voltages, ∼ -0.93/+1.35 V; retention, >10 s) and electrical- and near-infrared light-induced synapse plasticity but also demonstrates electrical-driven excitatory postsynaptic current, spiking-time-dependent plasticity, paired pulse facilitation, long-term plasticity, long- and short-term memory, and "learning-forgetting-learning" behaviors. The approach is a rewarding attempt to broaden the research of optoelectric controllable memristive devices for building neuromorphic architectures mimicking human brain functionalities.

Corrosion and degradation of magnesium (Mg) alloy result in serious damage and limit its application in new-energy automobile industry. Considerable protective coating is proposed, yet it is hindered by the difficulties in avoiding and visually monitoring coating micro-damage and localized metal corrosion. Herein, a novel anticorrosion coating system with autonomously monitoring multiple levels of damages in coated Mg-alloy system, is proposed.

All-inorganic lead halide perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) have emerged as highly promising materials for photonic and optoelectronic devices, solar cells, and photocatalysts. However, PQDs encounter instability and color separation issues because of ion diffusion. Current strategies mainly address stability in green CsPbBr PQDs, with limited focus on the red-mixed halide PQDs because of their inferior stability compared with green PQDs.

Four functionalized BODIPY derivatives (BDP1 to BDP4) were synthesized and their optical properties investigated both in solution and when incorporated into a solid matrix. Recognizing the versatility of BODIPY derivatives and the increasing interest in developing new luminescent organic dyes embedded in polymers, the BODIPY derivatives were dispersed into two types of polymeric matrices: Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), both as films and microparticles. This resulted in eight new BODIPY-doped polymer films and eight types of BODIPY-doped polymeric microparticles for use in aqueous solutions.

Understanding the composition of bone tissue at the submicron level is crucial to elucidate factors contributing to bone disease and fragility. Here, we introduce a novel approach utilizing optical photothermal infrared (O-PTIR) spectroscopy and imaging coupled with machine learning analysis to assess bone tissue composition at 500 nm spatial resolution. This approach was used to evaluate thick bone samples embedded in typical poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) blocks, eliminating the need for cumbersome thin sectioning.
