Published: March 2023

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been shown to be effective and safe in the treatment of malignant central airway stenosis. However, the laser dose for talaporfin PDT is unclear. We herein review cases where talaporfin PDT was used to treat malignant central airway stenosis. A total of 17 lesions were treated with talaporfin PDT at laser doses of 50-150 J/cm. Improvement of airway stenosis was observed in all cases except for 1 lesion treated with a dose of 50 J/cm. The results show that talaporfin PDT with 100 J/cm of laser dose is a feasible treatment for malignant central airway stenosis. To explore the application of spiral tracheoplasty in the repair of large tracheal defects after the resection of trachea invaded by thyroid cancer. A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 11 patients, including 4 males and 7 females, aged from 36 to 67 years old, with large tracheal defects after tracheal resection due to thyroid papillary carcinoma invading the trachea in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University from January 2019 to January 2022. The range of tracheal defects, time of tracheal reconstruction, postoperative complications and airway were recorded, and the patients were followed up for more than 24 months.

Background: Pediatric airway diseases are associated with complex challenges because of smaller and more dynamic airway structures in children. These conditions, along with specialized management by medical care staff, should be immediately and precisely recognized to prevent life-threatening obstructions and long-term respiratory complications. Recently, virtual reality (VR) has emerged as an innovative approach to clinical medical education.

Background: To investigate the risk factors associated with benign central airway stenosis following COVID-19 infection.

Methods: The clinical data of 235 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 infection at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from October 2022 to October 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Based on the occurrence of postoperative central airway stenosis, the patients were categorized into a stenosis group (118 cases) and a control group (117 cases).

Background: Long segmental congenital tracheal and tracheobronchial stenosis are a rare congenital airway anomaly with variable arborizations. This study aims to analyze presentations and outcomes of slide- tracheoplasty in long segmental congenital tracheal and tracheobronchial stenosis with variable arborizations METHODS: Retrospective analysis of all patients underwent slide tracheoplasty between March 1995 to Feb 2023 for long segmental congenital tracheal and tracheobronchial stenosis. Preoperative airway morphology was divided into anatomic types based on the Great Ormond Street Children Hospital Morphological Classification.

Sustained myocardial hypertrophy or left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) triggered by pressure overload is strongly linked to adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Here, we investigated the clinical relationship between serum HSP90α (an isoform of HSP90) levels and LVH in patients with hypertension or aortic stenosis (AS) and explored underlying mechanisms in pressure overload mouse model. We built a pressure overload mouse model via transverse aortic constriction (TAC).
