Strangulation is one of the oldest and widely used methods of committing murder in the Indian subcontinent. It is usually carried out by constricting the neck either with the hands, elbow, or other parts of body or by ligature, stick, and the like. In this paper we report a study of 26 cases of fatal strangulation occurring in the district of Varanasi (India) during 1982-1983 and analyze their epidemiological, medicolegal, and forensic pathological aspects. The paper also projects the mentality of perpetrators who, after strangling their victims, tried to hide the crime by disposing of the dead bodies by burning, burying, hanging, throwing them into water, or concealing them in distant places in most of the cases.

Cecal volvulus (CV) is a relatively rare disease; however, it often requires emergency surgery due to the low success rate of endoscopic treatment, in contrast to sigmoid volvulus. The mechanism of CV involves a mobile cecum at the base, triggered by factors such as constipation, high-fiber diets, laxative use, history of laparotomy or laparoscopic surgery, pregnancy, and prior colonoscopy, which twists the ileocecal region. Although CV is a benign disease, it can be fatal if treatment is delayed, so it is crucial to understand the pathophysiology and treatment.

We present a case of transmesenteric hernia resulting in the death of a 3-month-old female infant, the seventh such autopsy case reported so far. A three-month-old female infant, who initially presented with two episodes of vomiting, cramps, and constipation, was admitted to the hospital. She received symptomatic therapy and was released home.
