Tryptophan (Trp) is an essential amino acid obtained from human diet. It is involved not only in de novo biosynthesis of proteins but also in complex metabolic pathways. Redox transformation of tryptophan is under-explored in comparison with kynurenine, serotonin and indole pyruvate pathways.

This study aims to assess the impact of extract on periodontitis in rats, using the Papillary Bleeding Index (PBI), gingival index (GI), and histological evaluation of key inflammatory cells such as osteoclasts, osteoblasts, polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs), macrophages, and fibroblasts to explore its potential in reducing inflammation and preserving periodontal tissue.The extract was prepared using the reflux method with 96% ethanol as a solvent, followed by phytochemical screening and antibacterial testing via the disk diffusion method. This study utilized a posttest control group experiment with 24 Wistar rats, divided into four groups: nonperiodontitis, no-treatment, chlorhexidine-treated (CHX), and extract-treated groups, with the latter three groups induced with periodontitis.

Pulmonary fibrosis encompasses different chronic interstitial lung diseases, and the predominant form, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, remains to have a poor prognosis despite 2 approved therapies. Although the exact pathobiological mechanisms are still incompletely understood, epithelial injury and aberrant wound healing responses contribute to the gradual change in lung architecture and functional impairment. Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA)-induced lysophosphatidic receptor 1 (LPA1) signaling was proposed to be a driver of lung fibrosis, and LPA1 antagonists have shown promising antifibrotic profiles in early clinical development.

A pair of epimer with an unprecedented 4/7/6 tricyclic skeleton sesquiterpene (1 and 2) and five novel sesquiterpene (3-7) were isolated from Callicarpa nudiflora Hook. et Arn. Their structures were established by extensive spectroscopic analyses, single crystal X-ray diffraction, experimental electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra comparison and DP4+ probability analysis.

Fiber photometry has become a popular technique to measure neural activity in vivo, but common analysis strategies can reduce the detection of effects because they condense signals into summary measures, and discard trial-level information by averaging . We propose a novel photometry statistical framework based on functional linear mixed modeling, which enables hypothesis testing of variable effects at , and uses trial-level signals without averaging. This makes it possible to compare the timing and magnitude of signals across conditions while accounting for between-animal differences.
