House geckos share living quarters with humans in the tropical and subtropical regions inhabited by these reptiles. Gecko behavior, biological traits, continuous exposure to suspended particulate matter 0 µm in diameter (PM) and dust, as well as status as exotic species, motivated the choice of these species to examine environmental exposure to ambient air pollutants, in particular metals, and subsequent accumulation in these organisms. One part of the study was conducted in Tamaulipas (Mexico) where is abundant in urban and industrial environments, the other part was conducted in Andalucia (Spain) where is found in similar environments. Adult geckos were collected on buildings in locations affected by various air pollution sources. For both species, higher metal contents were observed in whole-body (including digestive tracts) analysis and were markedly different between collection sites. Contents in tails, digestive tracts, and carcasses without digestive tracts were not correlated. Based on contamination factor values, bioaccumulation in tissues occurred for 12 of the 15 metals analyzed. Data suggest that might serve as a biomonitor for Cu, Ni, Pb, Cr, Li, and V, whereas might be a biomonitor for Cu, Ni, Pb, and Cr. To our knowledge, metal contents for are reported here for the first time. House gecko data could be integrated into a highly representative monitoring system and health risk assessments related to air quality in residential areas.

This study evaluated the growth performance of and microalgae cultivated in diluted liquid digestate supplemented with CO, comparing their efficiency to that of a conventional synthetic media. The presence of an initial concentration of ammonium of 125 mg N-NH .L combined with the continuous injection of 1% v/v CO enhanced the optimal growth responses and bioremediation potential for both strains in 200-mL cultures.

In this paper, Gd-doped ZrO gate dielectric films and metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) capacitors structured as Al/ZrGdO /Si were prepared using an ultraviolet ozone (UVO)-assisted sol-gel method. The effects of heat treatment temperature on the microstructure, chemical bonding state, optical properties, surface morphology and electrical characteristics of the ZrGdO composite films and MOS capacitors were systematically investigated. The crystalline phase of the ZrGdO films appeared only at 600 °C, indicating that Gd doping effectively inhibits the crystallization of ZrO films.

Background: Acute rejection (AR) is one of the significant factors contributing to poor prognosis in patients following kidney transplantation. Neutrophils are the main cause of early host-induced tissue injury. This paper intends to investigate the possible mechanisms of neutrophil involvement in acute rejection in renal transplantation.

This study examined the electrodissolution mechanism of five impure sphalerite samples, which differ significantly in purity levels, along with their partially oxidized counterparts in a 0.5 M HSO. Partially oxidized samples were prepared through an incomplete leaching of sphalerite using HSO with Fe(SO).

This study addresses the issue of effective carrier injection to quantum wells in laser diode structures. The nitride light emitting structures used in this study were fabricated by Metal-Organic Vapor Phase Epitaxy (MOVPE). We developed three distinct sets of samples, with varying quantum barrier thickness, different QWs indium composition and different position relative to the p- and n-sides of the structure.
