A total of 137 patients with a history of focal and meningeal forms of tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) were examined in the period from 1 to 7 years after the acute stage of the disease. In their examination the authors used hemagglutination inhibition test in the acute and the long-term periods and neutralization test in the late periods. Antibodies to the TBE virus were detected in individuals living in the western region of TBE prevalence (Latvian SSR). The results of the clinical and immunological investigation help to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the peculiarities of TBE pathogenesis, the stability of the post-disease immunity, as well as to solve more successfully the questions of immunoprophylaxis and medical expert examination of the patients.

Background: Patients with cirrhosis are susceptible to infections due to abnormalities in humoral and cell-mediated immunity. Fungal infections are associated with delayed diagnosis and high mortality rates, emphasizing the importance of performing fungal cultures and maintaining elevated levels of suspicion in this patient population.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study analyzes cirrhotic patients readmitted with bacterial and fungal infections and investigates outcomes, including in-hospital mortality and hospital resource utilization.

Objective: To evaluate existing evidence from published systematic reviews for the effectiveness and safety of rehabilitation interventions in adult patients with colorectal cancer.
Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted using medical/health science databases up to October 2024. Bibliographies of pertinent articles, journals, and grey literature were searched.

The global dissemination of SARS-CoV-2 led to a worldwide pandemic in March 2020. Even after the official downgrading of the COVID-19 pandemic, infection with SARS-CoV-2 variants continues. The rapid development and deployment of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines helped to mitigate the pandemic to a great extent.

CD8+ T cells are critical for immune protection against severe COVID-19 during acute infection with SARS-CoV-2. However, the induction of antiviral CD8+ T cell responses varies substantially among infected people, and a better understanding of the mechanisms that underlie such immune heterogeneity is required for pandemic preparedness and risk stratification. In this study, we analyzed SARS-CoV-2-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses in relation to age, clinical status, and inflammation among patients infected primarily during the initial wave of the pandemic in France or Japan.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) establishes persistent infection, causes infectious mononucleosis, is a major trigger for multiple sclerosis and contributes to multiple cancers. Yet, knowledge remains incomplete about how the virus remodels host B cells to support lytic replication. We previously identified that EBV lytic replication results in selective depletion of plasma membrane (PM) B cell receptor (BCR) complexes, composed of immunoglobulin and the CD79A and CD79B signaling chains.
