Case: A 60-year-old woman presented with knee instability and pain that started approximately 13 years after a posterior stabilized total knee arthroplasty. Physical examination revealed significant posterior laxity. Bedside ultrasound (US) documented a free-floating, hyperechoic linear artifact within the posterior knee joint capsule. Revision with liner of increased thickness alleviated presenting symptoms.
Conclusion: Tibial postfractures often present with instability and pain. Diagnosis of a tibial postfracture can be based on clinical examination; other diagnostics commonly used include arthroscopy or computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging. US by a qualified sonographer is a potential diagnostic route that should be explored more rigorously.

Background: Unplanned readmission, a measure of surgical quality, occurs after 4.8% of primary total knee arthroplasties (TKA). Although the prediction of individualized readmission risk may inform appropriate preoperative interventions, current predictive models, such as the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS-NSQIP) surgical risk calculator (SRC), have limited utility.

Health service policies are evolving into qualified health care providing best possible outcomes as well as focused on patient satisfaction. Hence the qualification valued health care includes patient satisfaction measurements, it is suggested to get feedbacks during the assessment of outcomes from the patient's perspective. Aging of the world population accelerates demand on rehabilitation medicine which means recovering impairments so is directly related with quality of life.

Objective: The aim of this study was to comprehensively investigate the clinical efficacy of intraoperative local joint injection and intramuscular injection of betamethasone in patients with severe traumatic knee osteoarthritis (KOA).
Methods: 80 patients with severe traumatic KOA undergoing total knee arthroplasty were retrospectively recruited and rolled into S1 group (intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + betamethasone and isotonic saline mixture at joint incision), S2 group (muscle local injection of betamethasone before incision closure, simultaneously intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + isotonic saline mixture at joint incision), and D group (intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + isotonic saline mixture at the joint incision). Visual analog scale (VAS) score, serum inflammatory factors (IFs), hospital for special surgery (HSS)score, Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), and adverse reaction events (AREs) were analyzed.

Introduction: Primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) has shown excellent results in the treatment of osteoarthritis, and its indications have now been extended to younger patients of working age. Few articles in the literature have studied the return to work of young subjects, and no specific studies have been conducted in France. Therefore, we carried out a retrospective study to 1) investigate the rate and delay of return to work after primary TKA in a population under 55 years of age and 2) identify factors influencing early return to work before 3 months, the period usually used as the duration of initial work stoppage (TS).

Repetitive manual labor tasks involving twisting, bending, and lifting commonly lead to lower back and knee injuries in the workplace. To identify tasks with high injury risk, we recruited N = 9 participants to perform industry-relevant, 2-handed lifts with a 11-kg weight. These included symmetrical/asymmetrical, ascending/descending lifts that varied in start-to-end heights (knee-to-waist and waist-to-shoulder).
