Objective: To describe the presentation, outcomes, and management strategies for cases of subcapsular liver hematoma associated with preeclampsia, eclampsia, or HELLP (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count) syndrome.
Methods: This was a case series of individuals with subcapsular liver hematoma managed at a single level IV center over a 10-year period, from 2013 to 2024. Presenting signs and symptoms, laboratory findings, time of onset, management strategies, acute perinatal and maternal outcomes, and long-term outcomes such as subsequent pregnancies were reviewed in the medical record and recorded.

Introduction: Vascular Ehlers Danlos syndrome (vEDS) is a heritable connective tissue disorder characterized by vascular, solid organ, and hollow viscus fragility. Herein we report a patient with vEDS who presented with a large spontaneous subcapsular liver hemorrhage. This case highlights the challenges associated with managing vEDS patients and discusses approaches to optimize their care.

Epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) of lens epithelial cells (LECs) is one of the most important pathogenic mechanisms in lens fibrotic disorders, and the regulatory mechanisms of EMT have not been fully understood. Here, we demonstrate that the cAMP-response element binding protein (CREB) can regulate lens EMT in a phosphorylation-dependent and phosphorylation-independent manners with dual mechanisms. First, CREB-S133 phosphorylation is implicated in TGFβ-induced EMT of mouse LECs and also in injury-induced mouse anterior subcapsular cataract model.

The limited replicative potential of primary hepatocytes (Hep) is a major hurdle for obtaining sufficient quantity and quality hepatocytes during cell therapy in patients with liver failure. Intrahepatic cholangiocyte organoids (ICOs) derived from intrahepatic bile ducts differentiate into both hepatocytes and cholangiocytes . Here, we studied effects of transplanting ICOs and Hep in chronic liver injury mice models.

Background: The underlying mechanism of human umbilical-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) therapy for renal senescence in post-acute kidney injury (post-AKI) remains unclear. Unopposed mitochondrial fusion-based mitochondrial elongation is required for cellular senescence. This study attempted to dissect the role of hUC-MSCs therapy in modulating mitochondrial elongation-related senescence by hUC-MSCs therapy in post-AKI.
