Here, we present a case of a 70-year-old female, menopausal for 20 years, who came to our outpatient department with complaints of recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI) and foul-smelling vaginal discharge. She also had occasional abdominal pain and experienced social stigma due to the foul smell. No history of fever or bleeding per vaginum and no obvious vulval/cervicovaginal growth or uterovaginal prolapse was found. Per speculum and per vaginal examinations were carried out. On examination, a foreign body of approximately 10 × 10 cm was found free in the atrophic vaginal canal. She gave a history of insertion 20 years back, as treatment of prolapse, by some quack. The foreign body was removed, and no trauma occurred during the process of removal. She was then managed conservatively with antibiotics and supportive treatment. In the modern era, instead of ring pessary, the use of plastic balls or some fruit as a non-pharmacologic treatment of prolapse is unheard of. Our case draws attention that every gynecologist should be aware of the entity and have knowledge about its extraction, to give better care to menopausal females.

Purpose Of Review: Bladder stones account for 5% of all urinary tract calculi. Contributing factors include bladder outflow obstruction, infections, foreign bodies, or neurogenic voiding dysfunction. This necessitates an effective treatment modality, and with advances in medical technology, minimally invasive techniques using lasers are being widely adopted.

For a century, from the First Opium War (1839-1842) to the beginning of the Second World War (1937-1945) in China, cemeteries were established in many Chinese cities for the growing population of foreign dead, the majority of whom were British citizens. However, the retreat of the British Empire, the Chinese Civil War (1946-1949), and the People's Republic of China's desire for growth affected British necropolises. This article shows that despite the compassion and efforts of the Foreign Office and consular staff, bureaucratic hurdles and established legal precedents made it impossible to protect British cemeteries, especially after the destruction of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976).

Smart fibers with tunable luminescence properties, as a new form of visual output, present the potential to revolutionize personal living habits in the future and are receiving more and more attention. However, a huge challenge of smart fibers as wearable materials is their stretching capability for seamless integration with the human body. Herein, stretchable thermochromic fluorescent fibers are prepared based on self-crystallinity phase change, using elastic polyurethane (PU) as the fiber matrix, to meet the dynamic requirements of the human body.

Neural electrodes used for bidirectional communication between the nervous system and external devices like prosthetic limbs have advanced in neuroprosthetic applications. However, their effectiveness is hindered by the foreign body reaction, a natural immune response causing inflammation and fibrosis around the implanted device. This process involves protein adsorption, immune cell recruitment, cytokine release, and fibroblast activation, leading to a fibrous capsule formation and a decrease in electrode functionality.
