Forensic Aspects of Designer LSD Analogs Identification by GC-MS (EI) and UV Spectroscopy.

Molecules

December 2024

Department of Forensic Medicine, Wroclaw Medical University, 4 J. Mikulicza-Radeckiego Street, 50-345 Wroclaw, Poland.

Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) analogs, often referred to as new psychoactive substances, are synthesized to mimic controlled substances while evading drug regulations. This study emphasizes the challenges of identifying these compounds, particularly their isomeric forms. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and UV spectroscopy were employed to analyze 13 LSD analogs.

Theoretical Investigation on the H Atom Abstraction Reaction from C1-C4 Alkanes and Alkenes by ṄH Radicals.

Key Laboratory for Power Machinery and Engineering of M. O. E., Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai 200240, P. R. China.

The H atom abstraction reactions from alkanes and alkenes by ṄH are decisive in predicting the combustion characteristics of NH/CxHy binary fuels. Theoretical investigation is carried out on the energy barriers of H atom abstraction reactions from C1-C4 alkanes/alkenes by ṄH radicals at the QCISD(T)/CBS//M06-2/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory. Single-point energies of each species are computed using QCISD(T)/cc-pVDZ, TZ level of theories with basis set corrections from MP2/cc-pVDZ, TZ, and QZ methods.

Study on the Mechanism of Lipid Peroxidation Induced by Carbonate Radicals.

Molecules

March 2024

Department of Gynecological Oncology, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan 430030, China.

Article Synopsis
  • * This study uses (3Z,6Z)-nona-3,6-diene as a model for polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and employs density functional theory (DFT) to analyze how carbonate radicals react with these fatty acids, particularly focusing on hydrogen abstraction and radical addition.
  • * Results show that carbonate radicals primarily initiate lipid peroxidation by abstracting hydrogen from specific carbon atoms (diallyl), which occurs at a significantly higher rate compared to other positions, making it the
