The aim of the study was to determine the effect of a Bacillus-based direct-fed microbial on performance of mid-lactating Holstein dairy cows and on their milk fatty acid composition. Six multiparous cows fitted with a rumen cannula were used in a randomized replicated crossover design. Cows received 200 g/d of either whey powder as a control or BioPlus 2B (Chr. Hansen), a commercial direct-fed microbial providing Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis, representing a daily dose of 6.4 × 10 cfu, and using whey powder as a carrier. The 2 experimental periods lasted 14 d and were separated by a 7-d washout interval. Samples were collected on d 0, 13, and 14 of each period. Data from d 0 were used as covariate. Significance was declared at P ≤ 0.05 and tendency at 0.05

Ginseng peptides, small molecule active ingredients in ginseng, are mainly extracted naturally or synthesised chemically, but high costs and difficulties hinder further research. In this study, a ginseng hexapeptide FKEHGY, named antitumor peptide 0601 (AT0601) and its five tandem sequence repeats AT0605, were expressed in Bacillus subtilis WB600 for the first time, and the bioactivity study showed that the anticancer activity of AT0605 was even significantly higher than that of AT0601 for colon cancer CT26 cells, with IC50s of 16.82±1.

Endophytic fungi possess a unique ability to produce abundant secondary metabolites, which play an active role in the growth and development of host plants. In this study, chemical investigations on the endophytic fungus TE-739D derived from the cultivated tobacco ( L.) afforded two new polyketide derivatives, namely japoniones A () and B (), as well as four previously reported compounds -.

Bone tissue engineering aims to develop biomaterials that are capable of effectively repairing and regenerating damaged bone tissue. Among the various polymers used in this field, polycaprolactone (PCL) is one of the most widely utilized. As a biocompatible polymer, PCL is easy to fabricate, cost-effective, and offers consistent quality control, making it a popular choice for biomedical applications.

Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) plays a pivotal role in bacterial evolution, shaping the genetic diversity of bacterial populations. It can occur through mechanisms such as conjugation, transduction, and natural transformation. , a model Gram-positive bacterium, serves not only as a robust system for studying HGT but also as a versatile organism with established industrial applications, such as producing industrial enzymes, antibiotics, and essential metabolites.

strain PJH16, isolated and tested by our team, suppresses cucumber wilt as an efficient biocontrol agent. For further investigation, the strain has been combined with two other ( VJH504 and JNF2) to enhance biocontrol ability, which formed high-efficiency microbial agents in the current study. The methodological target taken is based on achieving the optimal growth conditions of the combined microbial agents; hence, the medium composition and culture conditions were optimized through a single-factor test, orthogonal test and response surface methodology.
