Osteoid osteomas (OO) are benign bone tumors that are prevalent in young adults. The typical clinical picture of the disease is pain that worsens at night, which may be alleviated by Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). The most common imaging finding of OO is a lytic lesion, known as a nidus, with variable intralesional mineralization, accompanied by bone sclerosis, cortical thickening and surrounding bone marrow edema, as well as marked post-contrast enhancement. The most commonly affected sites are the long bones of the lower limbs, but the ribs are rarely reported sites. The present study describes a case of osteoid osteomas located in the rib which was removed by rib resection using CT-scan guidance.

Flail chest is a life-threatening condition characterized by multiple rib fractures that result in a partially free rib cage. Thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) allows visualization of the needle tip under ultrasound guidance and can be safely performed, unlike epidural anesthesia where the needle tip cannot be visualized. Here, we describe a case of flail chest in whom TPVB was used, as it provides the same level of analgesia as epidural anesthesia and has a perfect analgesic effect.

Silk-fibroin hydrogels have gained considerable attention in recent years for their versatile biomedical applications. The physical properties of a complex hydrogel, comprising silk fibroin and riboflavin, surpass those of the silk fibroin-hydrogel without additives. This study investigates silk fibroin-riboflavin (silk-RIB) hydrogel at the atomistic level to uncover molecular structures and chemical characteristics specific to silk fibroin and riboflavin molecules in an aqueous medium.

This case presents a rare and aggressive manifestation of malignant melanoma, initially presenting as a chest wall swelling in a young male with a history of trauma and subsequent management for hemothorax and pyothorax. The complexity of this case lies in its atypical presentation and the challenges posed in diagnosis and treatment. A 30-year-old gentleman presented to the general surgery clinic with a chief complaint of swelling on the right side of his chest, persisting for two months following a traumatic fall, which later resulted in hemothorax and prothorax required drainage and eventually ended up developing a swelling requiring further investigations.

Background: Physicians' refusal to perform medical procedures that they deem contrary to their conscience may threaten basic human rights and public health. This study aims to investigate the thoughts and attitudes of future physicians on conscientious objection (CO) and thus contribute to the discussions from a country more heavily influenced by Eastern values.
Methods: A cross-sectional multi-center study was conducted among medical students country-wide, where 2,188 medical students participated via an online survey.

A cervical rib is the cause of ∼5% of thoracic outlet syndromes (TOS). We report the case of a patient with arterial TOS due to the presence of a cervical rib, managed by combined thoracoscopic and supraclavicular approach. An 18-year-old female patient presented with symptoms of arterial TOS.
