Dose responses were evaluated for the effects of diazepam alone or together with the cholecystokinin receptor antagonist CR 1409 on pentetrazole-induced convulsions, motor performance and spontaneous motor activity. The results obtained showed that the cholecytokinin antagonist potentiated the effects of diazepam on motor performance and the anticonvulsant activity of diazepam, while it did not affect spontaneous motor activity. The data presented are consistent with a role for cholecystokinin in some effects of diazepam.

Anxiety, a future-oriented negative emotional state, is characterized by heightened arousal and vigilance. The elevated plus maze (EPM) test is a widely used assay of anxiety-related behaviors in rodents and shows a phenomenon where animals with prior test experience tend to avoid open arms in retest sessions. While this one-trial tolerance (OTT) phenomenon limits the reuse of the EPM test, the potential mechanisms remain unsolved.

Aims: To assess and compare the effectiveness of pharmacological and cognitive-behavioral modalities-behavioral methods (BM), nitrous oxide inhalation sedation (NOIS), and premedication with Diazepam-for alleviating anxiety during dental treatment, using completed treatment sessions and adverse outcomes as indicators.
Methods And Results: For 239 patients (515 dental records), 18-53 y/o, who underwent dental treatments under anxiety reduction measures, sessions under NOIS were categorized as "nitrous group" (456 sessions) versus premedication with Diazepam or behavioral strategies (control, 59 sessions). Outcomes were completed treatment sessions considering demographic and clinical parameters, and adverse outcomes during and between sessions.

This study assesses the occurrence of emerging contaminants (ECs) from agricultural and livestock production activities along the Salado River (Santa Fe province, Argentina). Of the 23 ECs studied, 8 were detected and quantified in river and wastewater samples, including ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, chlorpyrifos-methyl, albendazole, fenbendazole, levamisole, diazepam, and thiamethoxam. In river samples, the highest concentrations corresponded to ciprofloxacin, chlorpyrifos-methyl, and enrofloxacin.

Conditioned suppression is a useful paradigm for measuring learned avoidance. In most conditioned suppression studies, forward conditioning is used where a cue predicts an aversive stimulus. However, backward conditioning, in which an aversive stimulus predicts a cue, provides unique insights into learned avoidance due to its influence on both conditioned excitation and inhibition.
