Patients suffering epilepsy caused by the gain-of-function mutants of the hKCNT1 potassium channels are drug refractory. In this study, we cloned a novel human KCNT1B channel isoform using the brain cDNA library and conducted patch-clamp and molecular docking analyses to characterize the pharmacological properties of the hKCNT1B channel using thirteen drugs. Among cinchona alkaloids, we found that hydroquinine exerted the strongest blocking effect on the hKCNT1B channel, especially the F313L mutant.

Background: Hydroquinidine reduces arrhythmic events in patients with Brugada syndrome (BrS). The mechanism by which it exerts antiarrhythmic benefit and its electrophysiological effects on BrS substrate remain incompletely understood.
Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of hydroquinidine on ventricular depolarization and repolarization in patients with BrS in vivo.

The analysis of the differences in metabolic profiles between naturally Ophiocordyceps sinensis (NO) and cultivated Ophiocordyceps sinensis (CO) is an essential process for the medicinal value mining of Ophiocordyceps sinensis. Non-targeted metabolomics was used to compare the differences in metabolite composition and abundance between NO and CO. Total metabolite composition found that NO is rich in organic acids and derivatives, and CO is rich in lipids and lipid-like molecules.

is one of the most common bacteria causing contact lens-related microbial keratitis (CLMK). Previous studies report that disinfecting solutions were ineffective in preventing biofilm formation. Solutions containing novel natural agents may be an excellent alternative for reducing the risk of CLMK.
