Unlabelled: Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) has been shown to be of value in evaluating the distribution of ventilation. In addition, several studies, particularly case reports, have demonstrated the use of EIT in the assessment of lung perfusion. EIT may be a potential diagnostic bedside tool in the diagnosis and follow-up of acute pulmonary embolism.
Case Summary: We present one case of a patient with COVID-19 who likely had pulmonary thromboembolism where perfusion scans were made before and after thrombolytic therapy. Perfusion scans showed improvement after thrombolytic therapy. This article should therefore be seen as a first step in proving the validity of EIT-derived perfusion scans as a diagnostic for pulmonary embolism.
Conclusion: The hypertonic saline bolus EIT method as a diagnostic tool for pulmonary embolism is a promising new technique, which can be particularly meaningful for critically ill patients. Further study is required to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of this technique and the impact on decision-making and outcomes of critically ill patients.

Objective: In suspected acute ischemic stroke, it is now reasonable to expand the conventional "stroke protocol" (non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT), arterial CT angiography (CTA), and optionally CT perfusion (CTP)) to early and late venous head scans yielding a multiphase CTA (MP-CTA) to increase diagnostic confidence. Diagnostic reference levels (DRLs) have been defined for neither MP-CTA nor CTP. We therefore present dosimetry data, while also considering image quality, for a large, unselected patient cohort.

Blue light reflectance (BLR) imaging offers a non-invasive, cost-effective method for evaluating retinal structures by analyzing the reflectance and absorption characteristics of the inner retinal layers. By leveraging blue light's interaction with retinal tissues, BLR enhances visualization beyond the retinal nerve fiber layer, improving detection of structures such as the outer plexiform layer and macular pigment. Its diagnostic utility has been demonstrated in distinct retinal conditions, including hyperreflectance in early macular telangiectasia, hyporeflectance in non-perfused areas indicative of ischemia, identification of pseudodrusen patterns (notably the ribbon type), and detection of peripheral retinal tears and degenerative retinoschisis in eyes with reduced retinal pigment epithelial pigmentation.

Approximately one-third of patients with focal epilepsy have medically refractory focal epilepsy (MRFE), which significantly impacts their quality of life. Once a seizure focus is identified and determined to be in the noneloquent cortex, it can be surgically resected with the goal of freedom from seizures and minimal neurocognitive deficit. During noninvasive (phase I) presurgical planning, functional (nuclear) imaging and structural imaging are complementary in the accurate localization of the epileptogenic zone (EZ).
