We report our single center experience demonstrating that HLA Class I alloimmunization predicts longer time to platelet engraftment, increased bleeding complications and higher transfusion requirements in patients undergoing gene-modified hematopoietic stem cell transplant for transfusion-dependent beta thalassemia.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFSickle cell disease (SCD) and transfusion-dependent β-thalassemia (TDT) are inherited blood disorders caused by pathogenic variants of the β-globin gene. Historically, allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) from human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-matched donors has been the only curative option. However, as most patients with SCD or TDT lack HLA-matched donors, autologous or patient-derived HSCT can provide an alternative, transformative option.

This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of stellate ganglion block (SGB) combined with trioxygen autologous blood retransfusion therapy (TABRT) in treating postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) of the head and face in elderly patients. A total of 190 patients (aged ≥ 60 years) with PHN were randomly assigned to receive either drug treatment alone (Group D, n = 40), drug treatment with SGB (Group DS, n = 52), drug treatment with TABRT (Group DT, n = 53), or drug combined SGB with TABRT (Group DST, n = 45). Key outcomes included pain visual analogue scale (VAS) scores and anxiety levels at baseline, 7 days, and 15 days post-treatment, the need for salvage analgesics, and complication rates assessed.

Background: Coagulopathy and inflammatory response are the intractable complication during Sun's procedure for type A aortic dissection (AAD). This study aims to investigate the efficacy of autologous platelet rich plasma (aPRP) on the patients undergoing Sun's procedure under moderate hypothermia.
Methods: A total of 372 AAD patients who underwent Sun's procedure under moderate hypothermia were divided into aPRP group (aPRP was separated before heparinization and transfused after protamine neutralization) and Non-aPRP group (without aPRP apheresis).

Background: Effective myocardial reperfusion in ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) remains challenging despite advancements in primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study evaluates the impact of thrombus aspiration (TA) and saline autotransfusion (SAT) compared to standard PCI (NOTA) on coronary flow dynamics and myocardial perfusion.
Research Design And Method: This prospective cohort study enrolled 157 STEMI patients who underwent primary PCI.
