Background: There has been no report of a detailed long-term study of hearing at defined frequencies.
Aims/objectives: This study aimed to evaluate long-term vestibular shwannoma (VS) growth and long-term changes in hearing thresholds at defined frequencies.
Methods: We retrospectively retrieved the medical records of 67 VS patients. Cases that were followed up for more than 5 years were analyzed.
Results: Tumor growth was observed in 15 cases (22.4%) and 6 cases underwent gamma knife treatment (9.0%). The longest case of tumor growth and gamma knife treatment was observed 11 years after the initial diagnosis. Hearing thresholds at 500-2000 Hz was significantly different between the no growth and growth group ( < .05). Particularly at 1000 Hz, there was a significant difference between the two groups from an early time-point.
Conclusions And Significance: Even a 10-year or longer follow-up of VS may show an increase in tumor growth. Moreover, hearing thresholds, particularly at 1000 kHz, may predict tumor growth when following-up VS patients.

Background: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) exhibits a cellular hierarchy with a subpopulation of stem-like cells known as glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) that drive tumor growth and contribute to treatment resistance. NAD(H) emerges as a crucial factor influencing GSC maintenance through its involvement in diverse biological processes, including mitochondrial fitness and DNA damage repair. However, how GSCs leverage metabolic adaptation to obtain survival advantage remains elusive.

Background: Tumor microenvironment (TME) plays a crucial role in tumor growth and metastasis. Exploring biomarkers that are significantly associated with TME can help guide individualized treatment of patients.
Methods: We analyzed the expression and survival of P4HB in pan-cancer through the TCGA database, and verified the protein level of P4HB by the HPA database.

Gastric cancer is a malignant gastrointestinal disease characterized by high morbidity and mortality rates worldwide. The occurrence and progression of gastric cancer are influenced by various factors, including the abnormal alternative splicing of key genes. Recently, RBM39 has emerged as a tumor biomarker that regulates alternative splicing in several types of cancer.

Background: There are multiple surgical approaches for treating symptomatic simple renal cysts (SSRCs). The natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) approach has gradually been applied as an emerging minimally invasive approach for the treatment of SSRCs. However, there are no clear indicators for selecting the NOTES approach for patients with SSRCs.

Background And Aims: Small gastric subepithelial tumors (SETs) in the stomach can be managed through surveillance or resection. However, it is still controversial how often the lesion would progress if left untreated. This study aimed to evaluate the progression rate of small SETs and identify risk factors influencing tumor growth.
