Locating the genetic variation of important livestock and poultry economic traits is essential for genetic improvement in breeding programs. Identifying the candidate genes for the productive ability of Huaxi cattle was one crucial element for practical breeding. Based on the genotype and phenotype data of 1,478 individuals and the RNA-seq data of 120 individuals contained in 1,478 individuals, we implemented genome-wide association studies (GWAS), transcriptome-wide association studies (TWAS), and Fisher's combined test (FCT) to identify the candidate genes for the carcass trait, the weight of longissimus dorsi muscle (LDM). The results indicated that GWAS, TWAS, and FCT identified seven candidate genes for LDM altogether: was located by GWAS and FCT, was located by TWAS and FCT, and , , , , and were only located by one of the methods. After functional analysis of these candidate genes and referring to the reported studies, we found that they were mainly functional in the progress of the development of the body and the growth of muscle cells. Combining advanced breeding techniques such as gene editing with our study will significantly accelerate the genetic improvement for the future breeding of Huaxi cattle.

Currently, the identification of valuable candidate genes affecting milk fat synthesis in dairy cows is still limited, and the specific regulatory mechanism is still unknown. In this study, we used primary bovine mammary epithelial cells(BMECs)as a model and utilized overexpression and knockdown techniques for the PI4K2A gene to investigate the specific mechanisms by which it regulates lipid metabolism in BMECs. We studied whether PI4K2A regulates the inhibition of trans-10, cis-12 conjugated linoleic acid (t10,c12-CLA) on lipid synthesis in BMECs.

A pangenome is the sum of the genetic information of all individuals in a species or a population. Genomics research has been gradually shifted to a paradigm using a pangenome as the reference. However, in disease genomics study, pangenome-based analysis is still in its infancy.

The negative effects associated with cyanobacterial blooms are of particular concern in protected ecosystems, as these areas are ecologically significant and attract a high number of visitors. This study aims to explore the cyanobacterial communities and associated toxicity in three reservoirs located within a Mediterranean National Park with a compromised situation at basin-level. Our results demonstrate the occurrence of dense toxic blooms containing microcystins (reaching values close to 280 μg L) and low levels of anatoxin-a and saxitoxins (up to 0.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Cepharanthine (CEP) is an alkaloid extracted from Stephania cephalantha Hayata, a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) renowned for its heatclearing and dehumidifying properties. For centuries, Stephania cephalantha Hayata has been employed in the treatment of a wide range of diseases, including pain, edema, inflammation, and fever.
Aim Of The Study: Our research aims to investigate the role and mechanism of Cepharanthine in ameliorating uric acid (UA) induced neuroinflammatory responses.

The major phytochemicals in the roots of Cudrania tricuspidata are prenylated xanthones, exhibiting significant structural diversity and bioactive properties, such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, and antitumor effects. The biosynthetic pathways of these compounds have not yet been resolved, limiting their production through synthetic biology. In this study, benzoyl-coenzyme A (CoA) ligase (BZL), benzophenone synthase (BPS), and benzophenone 3'-hydroxylase (B3'H) transcripts involved in the biosynthesis of xanthone were cloned and characterized from C.
