Background Objectives: Co-infection of dengue virus and acute hepatitis A virus in paediatric population is a major health concern in endemic countries. This cross sectional retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of hepatitis A virus among the clinically dengue suspected paediatric cases presented at our tertiary care centre during the two-year period (2022-2023).

Methods: A total of 747 dengue suspected paediatric clinical specimens were included in this study.

Recent Insights Into Wnt-Related tRNA-Derived Fragments (tRFs) in Human Diseases.

J Cell Biochem

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Novel Targets and Drug Study for Neural Repair of Zhejiang Province, School of Medicine, Hangzhou City University, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China.

tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs) are a newly recognized class of small noncoding RNAs (sncRNAs) that play significant roles in various diseases. The Wnt pathway plays a key role in various physiological processes such as embryonic development, tissue renewal and regeneration. In the regulation of Wnt/β-catenin, Forkhead box k1(FOXK1), Frizzled class receptor 3 (FZD3), and Wnt5b can be targeted and inhibited by three tRFs: tRF3008A targets FOXK1 to inhibit colorectal cancer (CRC), 5'-tiRNAVal targets FZD3 to inhibit breast cancer (BrC), and tRF-22-8BWS7K092 targets Wnt5b to induce ferroptosis in lung cells.

Background: Gastric outlet obstruction due to unresectable tumours is usually managed with a gastrojejunostomy. Unfortunately, the unsatisfactory outcomes of this procedure have led to the search for alternatives, including gastric partitioning.

Methods: Monocentric, randomized, parallel, open-label trial that included patients with obstructive, unresectable distal gastric tumours.

Microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA) is a condition characterized by intravascular fragmentation of red blood cells, leading to the characteristic finding of schistocytes on a peripheral blood smear. The differential diagnoses of MAHA include thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS), disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), infections, malignancies, and solid organ transplantation. The commonly associated malignancies with MAHA are gastric, breast, prostate, lung, and lymphoma.

Autoimmune polyglandular syndromes (APS) are characterized by associations of two or more autoimmune diseases (AID). APS type 3 is characterized by the presence of autoimmune thyroid disease associated with other AID, excluding adrenal gland involvement. Here we report a case of a 64-year-old male, with history of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), diagnosed at the age of 32, who was referred to a Diabetes consultation in 2014 due to poor metabolic control.
