The effects of speech-based variables on the immediate serial recall (ISR) task constitute fundamental evidence underpinning the concept of the Phonological Loop component of Working Memory. Somewhat surprisingly, the Phonological Loop has yet to be applied to the immediate free recall (IFR) task although both tasks share similar memoranda and presentation methods. We believe that the separation of theories of ISR and IFR has contributed to the historical divergence between the Working Memory and Episodic Memory literature.

Steinkrauss and Slotnick (2024) conclude that current evidence is insufficient to sustain a link between implicit memory and the hippocampus. However, behavioral protocols designed to minimize visual awareness, so that memoranda are objectively invisible both at study and at test, can yield brain-based signals of implicit memory, which circumvent several of the identified constraints. Furthermore, while differences in novelty and attention complicate the interpretation of hippocampal involvement in implicit memory tasks, these processes can occur with and without conscious awareness, suggesting a more complex interplay between the hippocampus and memory-related processes than an exclusive association with consciousness would indicate.

The COVID-19 outbreak has dramatically changed the organization of Pediatric Neurosurgery all over the world. The departments involved developed similar plans to maintain emergency surgeries without reducing clinical activities. The Association of Pediatric Neurosurgeons wrote different memoranda to detail the surgical procedures not to be postponed with special attention given to high-risk pathology for COVID-19 contamination, like trans-naso-sphenoidal surgery.

Study Objectives: The learning brain establishes schemas (knowledge structures) that benefit subsequent learning. We investigated how sleep and having a schema might benefit initial learning followed by rearranged and expanded memoranda. We concurrently examined the contributions of sleep spindles and slow-wave sleep to learning outcomes.

Background: Licences to operate pharmacy premises are issued by statutory regulatory bodies. The Health Institutions and Facilities Act (Act 829) and Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act (Act 857) regulate pharmacy premises and the business of supplying restricted medicines by retail, respectively, and this could create a potential regulatory overlap for pharmacy practice in Ghana. We theorise that the potential overlap of regulation duties stems from how law-makers framed issues and narratives during the formulation of these Acts.
