In addition to the repulsive and attractive interaction forces described by Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory, many charged colloid systems are stabilized by non-DLVO contributions stemming from specific material attributes. Here, we investigate non-DLVO contributions to the stability of polymer colloids stemming from the intra-particle glass transition temperature (). Flash nanoprecipitation is used to fabricate nanoparticles (NPs) from a library of polymers and dispersion stability is studied in the presence of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic salts. When adding KCl, stability undergoes a discontinuous decrease as increases above room temperature, indicating greater stability of rubbery NPs over glassy NPs. Glassy NPs are also found to interact strongly with hydrophobic phosphonium cations (PR), yielding charge inversion and intermediate aggregation while rubbery NPs resist ion adsorption. Differences in the lifetime of ionic structuration within mobile surface layers is presented as a potential mechanism underlying the observed phenomenon.

Context: "Nanostructure of graphene-reinforced with polymethyl methacrylate" (PMMA-G), and vice versa, is investigated using its molecular structure, in the present work. The PMMA-G nanostructure was constructed by bonding PMMA with graphene nanosheet in a sense to get three different configurations. Each configuration consisted of polymeric structures with three degrees of polymerization (such as monomers, dimers, and trimers polymers, respectively).

The glassy state of inorganic-organic hybrid metal halides combines their excellent optoelectronic properties with the outstanding processability of glass, showcasing unique application potential in solar devices, display technologies, and plastic electronics. Herein, by tailoring the organic cation from -phenylpiperazine to dimethylamine gradually, four types of zero-dimensional antimony halides are obtained with various optical and thermal properties. The guest water molecules in crystal (-phenylpiperazine)SbCl·Cl·5HO lead to the largest distortion of the Sb-halogen unit, resulting in the red emission different from the yellow emission of other compounds.

Synthetic polymers have found widespread use with functional lifetimes from seconds to decades. However, the lack of end-of-life treatment for these plastics is causing a significant environmental and human health crisis due to their persistence and bioaccumulation. Upcycling post-consumer plastic waste to products with inherent recyclability is an attractive strategy to tackle this problem, as it can broaden the range of accessible materials and uncover unprecedented features while dealing with current plastic waste.

This work is focused on the impact of temperature and deformation on the mechanical properties, specifically the elastic modulus () of the amorphous regions in semicrystalline polymers, using polypropylene as a case study. It has been shown that increasing temperature results in an decrease due to the enhanced mobility of polymer chains, triggered by the activation of α relaxation processes within the crystalline component. Consequently, rising temperature reduces the "stiffening" effect of the crystalline regions on the interlamellar layers.

Analyzing the chemical composition of different kinds of acrylic cement is necessary to understand their properties and suitability for curing bone defects. Conducting various chemical tests can give valuable insight into the composition, viscosity, and performance characteristics of each kind of cement, Therefore, our study aimed to find safety standards and the effectiveness of these products for medical applications. The polymeric characterization was determined by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (H-NMR) spectroscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).
