Being a macrolide antibiotic, the antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties of azithromycin (AZM) were taken advantage of during the COVID-19 pandemic which led to the overuse of AZM resulting in excessive release and accumulation in the waterways and ecosystem causing unpleasant threats to humankind. This demands the necessity for a highly sensitive material being capable of recognizing AZM in wastewater. Mindful of the optical attributes of organic ligand structures, we have constructed a hybrid material by chelating Zn with pyridyl benzimidazole (PBI).

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect and possible underlying mechanism of La(CO) deposition on GI mucosal inflammation. Our results showed that La(CO) can dissolve in artificial gastric fluids and form lanthanum phosphate (LaPO) precipitates with an average size of about 1 μm. To mimic the intestinal mucosa and epithelial barrier, we established a Caco-2/THP-1 macrophage coculture model and a Caco-2 monoculture model, respectively.

Chronic radiation exposure increases the risk of skin damage of medical personnel engaged in radiology. However, hand dose measurements in computed tomography (CT) for diagnostic purposes have not been evaluated. The occupational radiation dose to the hands of CT assistants was herein investigated to evaluate its compliance with the equivalent dose limit for the hand (500 mSv/year).

Little information is available on the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) determination of the hippocampal formation (HF) during the perinatal period. However, this exploration is increasingly used, which requires defining visible HF landmarks on MRI images, validated through histological analysis. This study aims to provide a protocol to identify HF landmarks on MRI images, followed by histological validation through serial sections of the temporal lobe of the samples examined, to assess the longitudinal extent of the hippocampus during the perinatal period.
