A 41-year-old male presented with obstructive urinary symptoms and an enlarged prostate. Subsequent testing revealed a remarkably high PSA level of 150 ng/mL, considerably above normal limits, raising concern for possible malignancy. Transrectal ultrasound showed an enlarged heterogeneous prostate measuring 74×80×75mm.

Airborne radioactivity from fossil fuel production systems is poorly characterized, but a recent study showed elevated ambient levels with proximity to oil and gas production wells. Here, we report year-long, high temporal resolution monitoring results of airborne alpha radioactivity from both radon gas and radon progeny attached to particulates immediately northeast of an oil refinery in Commerce City, Colorado, USA, in an environmental justice community of concern. Gas and particle-associated radioactivity contributed nearly evenly to the total alpha radioactivity.

High Latitude fjords can serve as sediment trap, bearing different type of proxies, from geochemical to micropaleontological ones, making them exceptional tools for paleoenvironmental reconstruction. However, some unconventional proxies can be present and can be used to depict a comprehensive and exhaustive interpretation of past changes. Here, studying a sediment core in Edisto Inlet (Ross Sea, Antarctica) we used irregular echinoid spines and ophiuroids (Ophionotus victoriae) ossicles to trace environmental changes throughout the last 3.

This study aims to identify unique signatures from residential coal combustion in China across various combustion conditions and coal types. Using a Thermal/Spectral Carbon Analyzer with a Photoionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (TSCA-PI-TOF-MS), we focus on the optical properties and organic mass spectra of the emissions. Bituminous coal emerged as the primary emitter of total carbon, releasing 729 μg C/mg PM under smoldering and 894 μg C/mg PM under flaming.
