Importance: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common, chronic, cardiac arrythmia in older US adults. It is not known whether AF is independently associated with increased risk of retinal stroke (central retinal artery occlusion), a subtype of ischemic stroke that causes severely disabling visual loss in most cases and is a harbinger of further vascular events.

Objective: To determine whether there is an association between AF and retinal stroke.

Department of Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery, Wuhan No.1 Hospital, Wuhan, Hubei, China.

Purpose: Previous researches have suggested an important association between gut microbiota (GM) and vascular pathologies such as atherosclerosis. This study aimed to explore the association between 196 GM taxa and retinal vein occlusion (RVO).

Methods: This study used Mendelian randomization (MR), linkage disequilibrium score regression (LDSC), and polygenic overlap analysis.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the association between the preoperative characteristics and macular status of the eyes with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD).

Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study.

Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is a known side effect of systemic steroid therapy. The role of intravitreal steroids in causing CSC is controversial. We present two cases of acute CSC that developed after intravitreal steroid injections.

This comprehensive review examines the ocular vascular complications of cocaine use, focusing on its effects on retinal vasculature and inflammation. A rare case of bilateral frosted branch angiitis (FBA) in a 48-year-old man with a history of intranasal cocaine abuse is presented as an illustrative example to stimulate discussion. The case highlights severe retinal ischemia and vascular sheathing, with no identifiable infectious or autoimmune cause, ultimately complicated by systemic vascular events.
