Biomass materials, an important source of chemical feedstocks, could replace fossil fuels as a resource in the future. The chemical feedstocks from biomass materials are used in many medical and pharmaceutical products and in fuels, chemicals, and functional materials. Biomass materials are expected to be used in biomedical engineering fields, especially due to their low biotoxicity. By the way, most of the demand for bio-application fields is an application targeted for customized production, so a high formability is required for production. Research on three-dimensional (3D) printing technology capable of satisfying these requirements has been ongoing. Manufacturing additives need to be investigated to use biomass materials as a resin or bioink safely for 3D printing, which is a technique widely used in biomedical engineering fields. In this study, a projection microstereolithography (PμSL) system, a 3D printing technique, was made that uses a biomass-based resin. Biomass materials are designed to be photocurable for use in the PμSL process. Various PμSL process parameters were investigated using the biomass-based resin to determine the optimum fabrication conditions for 3D structures. This study demonstrated that a biomass-based resin can be used in the PμSL process. We provide a method for its application in various biomedical engineering fields.

Biomass burning is an important source of brown carbon (BrC) aerosols, which influence climate by affecting the Earth's radiative balance. However, the transformation pathways of BrC chromophores, especially in the presence of photochemically active species, such as nitrate, are not well understood. In this study, the nitrate-mediated aqueous-phase photooxidation of three typical BrC chromophores from biomass burning was investigated, including 4-nitrocatechol, 3-nitrosalicylic acid, and 3,4-dinitrophenol.

This study represents the first investigation into the ultrasonic and microwave extraction of bioactive metabolites from (red seaweed) and () (brown seaweed), with a focus on their biological activities. The research compares ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) with microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) utilizing a hydromethanolic solvent to evaluate their effects on these seaweeds' bioactive compounds and biological activities. The assessment included a series of antioxidant essays: DPPH, ABTS, phenanthroline, and total antioxidant capacity, followed by enzyme inhibition activities: alpha-amylase and urease.

Biotemplating technique allows the synthesis of catalysts, recreating the sophisticated structure of nature templates. In this work, some biotemplated TiO semiconductors were synthesized using leaves as templates. Then, g-CN was coupled to materials to later incorporate Pt on the surface or as dopant in the structure to evaluate the efficiency of the solids in two photocatalytic applications to valorize biomass: hydrogen production through glycerol photoreforming, and photoacetalization of cinnamaldehyde with 1,2-propanediol.

However, its high cost and difficulty in recycling limit the purification of heavy metals in water. The anisotropic [2,4]-dibenzo-18-crown-6-modified bamboo pulp aerogel (DB18C6/PA) is successfully synthesized by microwave irradiation and directional freezing technology.

To select the mycorrhizal seedlings of with excellent Cd-resistance and explore the mechanism of promoting the resistance to Cd stress of , nine species of isolated from different hosts infected to form mycorrhizal seedlings, were cultured in Cd-contaminated soil for three months. We conducted the principal component analysis (PCA) on biomass, root structure, and photosynthesis, and evaluated the Cd tolerance of mycorrhizal seedlings by membership function. The results showed that dry and fresh weight of mycorrhizal seedlings under Cd stress were 1.
