Agents that cause apoptotic cell death by interfering with tubulin dynamics, such as vinblastine and paclitaxel, are an important class of chemotherapeutics. Unfortunately, these compounds are substrates for multidrug resistance (MDR) pumps, allowing cancer cells to gain resistance to these chemotherapeutics. The indolesulfonamide family of tubulin inhibitors are not excluded by MDR pumps and have a promising activity profile, although their high lipophilicity is a pharmacokinetic limitation for their clinical use.

Artemisinin, also known as 'Qinghaosu', is a chemically sesquiterpene lactone containing an endoperoxide bridge. Due to the high activity to kill , artemisinin and its derivatives have continuously served as the foundation for antimalarial therapies. Natural artemisinin is unique to the traditional Chinese medicinal plant L.

Au(III) bis(pyrrolide-imine) chelates are emerging as a class of versatile, efficacious metallodrug candidates. Here, we synthesised two enantiopure chiral ligands H2L1 and H2L2 (tetradentate cyclohexane-1,2-diamine-bridged bis(pyrrole-imine) derivatives). Metallation of the ligands with Au(III) afforded the chiral cationic complexes AuL1 and AuL2.

Primary transitional cell carcinoma of the ureter is a rare type of cancer with metastasis presented in approximately 25% at diagnosis. Due to its rarity and poor prognosis, the management of this neoplasm is still controversial, and the development of new therapies is of uttermost importance. Herein, we describe a case of a 54-year-old patient diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma of the left ureter submitted to left nephroureterectomy (pT3N2M0) and methotrexate, vinblastine, doxorubicin, and cisplatin adjuvant chemotherapy.
