Salivary hypofunction is a common complication in patients with head and neck cancers following radiotherapy (RT). RT-induced inflammation in salivary gland cells leads to apoptosis and fibrosis. Artesunate (ART) is a bioactive compound with anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrosis properties.

Aquaporins (AQPs) are a subgroup of small transmembrane transporters that are distributed in various types of tissues, including the lung, kidney, heart and central nervous system. It is evident that respiratory diseases represent a significant global health concern, with a considerable number of deaths occurring worldwide. Recent researches have demonstrated that AQPs play a pivotal role in respiratory diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the role of Interleukin-37 (IL-37) in mouse models of dry eye.
Methods: Two murine models of dry eye were employed in this investigation. The evaluation of the anti-inflammatory impact of IL-37 (200 μl, 10 μg/ml) on dry eye mice involved intraperitoneal injections administered once daily for 7 days.

Aquaporins (AQPs) constitute a wide family of water channels implicated in all kind of physiological processes. Zinc is the second most abundant trace element in the human body and a few studies have highlighted regulation of AQP0 and AQP4 by zinc. In the present work, we addressed the putative regulation of AQPs by zinc cations in silico through molecular dynamics simulations of human AQP0, AQP2, AQP4, and AQP5.

Purpose: To investigated the role of estrogen receptor-1 (ER-1) in maintaining homeostasis in ocular surface.
Methods: ER-1-knockout (ER-1KO) mice were studied at 4 months of age. The ocular surface was examined using a slit lamp.
