Herein, we demonstrate that rapid thermal annealing allows achieving close-to-one photoluminescence quantum yield while preserving the transparency of rare-earth nanocrystal films, which further enables their integration with nanophotonics. The combination with periodic arrays of aluminum nanodisks that support collective plasmonic resonances leads to enhanced directional emission.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) has evolved significantly over fifty years into a powerful analytical technique. This review aims to achieve five main goals. (1) Providing a comprehensive history of SERS's discovery, its experimental and theoretical foundations, its connections to advances in nanoscience and plasmonics, and highlighting collective contributions of key pioneers.

Solid-state detectors with a low energy threshold have several applications, including searches of non-relativistic halo dark-matter particles with sub-GeV masses. When searching for relativistic, beyond-the-Standard-Model particles with enhanced cross sections for small energy transfers, a small detector with a low energy threshold may have better sensitivity than a larger detector with a higher energy threshold. In this paper, we calculate the low-energy ionization spectrum from high-velocity particles scattering in a dielectric material.

The chirality and chiroptical response of materials have attracted significant attention for their potential to introduce the new science of light-matter interactions. We demonstrate that collective mode formation under modal coupling between localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) with a chiral arrangement and Fabry-Pérot (FP) nanocavity modes can induce chiroptical responses. We fabricated a cluster of isotropic gold nanodisks with a chiral arrangement (gold nano-windmills, Au-NWs) on the FP nanocavities of TiO and Au film.

The subject of our present investigation is the collective electronic properties of various types of pseudospin-1 Dirac-cone materials with a flat band and finite bandgaps in their low-energy spectra. Specifically, we have calculated the dynamical polarization, plasmon dispersions, as well as their decay rates due to Landau damping and presented the closed-form analytical expressions for the wave function overlaps for both the gapped dice lattice and the Lieb lattice. The gapped dice lattice is a special case of the more general-T3model such that its band structure is symmetric and the flat band remains dispersionless.

The volume plasmon modes of a confined electron gas are engineered in a step-like semiconductor potential, which induces the formation of adjacent regions of different charge density. Each region supports spatially localized collective modes. Adjacent modes are theoretically demonstrated to couple, forming delocalized modes, which are well-described with a hybridization picture.
