Purpose: This study deals with the conversion of the image quality figure (IQF) values with CDMAM Analyser ver. 1 (old analysis software) used to analyse the images of CDMAM 3.4 phantom into the IQF values with a new analysis software, that is, CDMAM Analyser (ver. 2 and ver. 2.3), which is a software improved to be closer to human visual evaluation.

Methods: The IQF values were calculated using four mammography units and three analysis software. The IQF values using the old and new software were compared.

Results: The IQF values had no difference according to mammography units and beam quality. The conversion formula of IQF from CDMAM Analyser ver. 1 to CDMAM Analyser ver. 2 was derived. Furthermore, the conversion formula of IQF from CDMAM Analyser ver. 1 to CDMAM Analysis ver. 2.3 was also derived.

Conclusion: Using each conversion formula, the IQF values using the old software can be converted to those using the new software. There was a slight difference between the IQF values using the new software.

Tailoring the Lithium Concentration in Thin Lithium Ferrite Films Obtained by Dual Ion Beam Sputtering.

Nanomaterials (Basel)

July 2024

Departamento de Electrocerámica, Instituto de Cerámica y Vidrio (ICV), CSIC, 28049 Madrid, Spain.

Thin films of lithium spinel ferrite, LiFeO, have attracted much scientific attention because of their potential for efficient excitation, the manipulation and propagation of spin currents due to their insulating character, high-saturation magnetization, and Curie temperature, as well as their ultra-low damping value. In addition, LiFeO is currently one of the most interesting materials in terms of developing spintronic devices based on the ionic control of magnetism, for which it is crucial to control the lithium's atomic content. In this work, we demonstrate that dual ion beam sputtering is a suitable technique to tailor the lithium content of thin films of lithium ferrite (LFO) by using the different energies of the assisting ion beam formed by Ar and O ions during the growth process.

Freezing of artichoke is a promising alternative to storing it in brine and canning. The perishable vegetable was vacuum infused with inulin to improve freezing tolerance. Artichokes with and without inulin were frozen by static, air blast and individual quick freezing (IQF) methods and thawed by microwave, 25 °C and 4 °C temperature levels at each month of 6-months storage.

Article Synopsis
  • Differences in patient size present challenges for radiographers when selecting acquisition parameters for high-quality radiographs, particularly in adult chest radiography (CXR).
  • The study used a contrast detail phantom simulating different body thicknesses (9 to 17 cm) to evaluate the effects on image quality (IQ) and radiation dose, employing varying tube potentials and automatic exposure control.
  • Results indicated that lower tube potentials yielded the best image quality figures (IQF) while higher thicknesses increased both IQF and radiation dose, suggesting a need to balance image quality and patient safety during examinations.

Rationale And Objectives: Dual-energy subtraction (DES) imaging constitutes a technique that has demonstrated efficacy in enhancing the detectability of pulmonary nodules on chest radiographs. However, a simple and quantitative methodology for evaluating the clinical image quality of DES images is currently lacking. The objective of this study was to investigate the applicability of contrast-detail (C-D) phantom analysis to the visual clinical image quality evaluation of chest DES images.

Effect of varying X-ray tube voltage and additional filtration on image quality and patient dose in digital radiography system.

Appl Radiat Isot

September 2023

Ankara University, Institute of Nuclear Sciences, 06100, Ankara, Türkiye; Ankara University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Physics Engineering, 06100, Ankara, Türkiye. Electronic address:

This study investigated the effect of varying x-ray tube voltage and additional filtration thicknesses on radiation dose and image quality in digital radiography system. The polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) phantoms of different thicknesses simulating both the adult chest and abdomen and the pediatric patient's chest examinations were used. X-ray tube voltage range of 70-125 kVp was used for adult patient chest radiography, 70-100 kVp for adult patient abdominal radiography, and 50-70 kVp for pediatric 1-year-old chest examination.
