Single-crystal Au(111), renowned for its chemically inert surface, long-range "herringbone" reconstruction, and high electrical conductivity, has long served as an exemplary template in diverse fields, , crystal epitaxy, electronics, and electrocatalysis. However, commercial Au(111) products are high-priced and limited to centimeter sizes, largely restricting their broad applications. Herein, a low-cost, high-reproducible method is developed to produce 4 in.

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) morbidity and mortality is increasing in Africa, largely due to undiagnosed and untreated hypertension. Approaches that leverage existing primary health systems could improve hypertension treatment and reduce CVD, but cost-effectiveness is unknown. We evaluated the cost-effectiveness of population-level hypertension screening and implementation of chronic care clinics across eastern, southern, central, and western Africa.

The aim of this scoping review was to map intervention programmes for first-episode psychosis by identifying their characteristics, participants, and specific contexts of implementation. It seems reasonable to suggest that early intervention may be beneficial in improving recovery outcomes and reducing the duration of untreated psychosis (DUP). Despite the expansion of these programmes, there are still some significant variations and barriers to access that need to be addressed.

Monitoring genetic diversity of Torminalis glaberrima for resilient forests in the face of population fragmentation.

Ann Bot

January 2025

Unit of Ecological Genetics, Institute of Forest Biodiversity and Nature Conservation, Austrian Research Centre for Forests (BFW), Seckendorff-Gudent-Weg 8, Vienna, Vienna.

Background And Aims: Torminalis glaberrima (Gand.) Sennikov & Kurtto is a European tree species currently underutilized in forestry, valued for its high-quality wood and contribution to ecosystem stability. Despite a projected range expansion as climate change progresses, current population fragmentation levels may inhibit the species' ability to migrate and stabilize fragile forest ecosystems.

Free-Breathing Respiratory Triggered High-Pitch Lung CT: Insights From Phantom and Patient Scans.

Invest Radiol

January 2025

From the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Erlangen, Germany (A. Schwarz, A. Simon, A.M.); Siemens Healthineers AG, Forchheim, Germany (A. Schwarz, C.H., J.D., A. Simon); Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany (F.K.W., S.G., M.S.); and Institut for Radiology, Pediatric and Neuroradiology, Helios Hospital, Schwerin, Germany (H.-J.R.).

Objective: Respiratory motion can affect image quality and thus affect the diagnostic accuracy of CT images by masking or mimicking relevant lung pathologies. CT examinations are often performed during deep inspiration and breath-hold to achieve optimal image quality. However, this can be challenging for certain patient groups, such as children, the elderly, or sedated patients.
