Abuse of physician prescribed opioids contributes to health and economic burdens associated with dependency, overdose, and death. Since the 1900s, the United States (U.S.) Congress has legislated use and misuse of controlled substances. Under the U.S. Constitution, states developed prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs) that determine how the program is managed, what data to track, and what information to share with other states. Lack of a standard data set that allows providers to see prescribing data for designated controlled substances across state lines, limits benefits of state PDMPs. A federal PDMP with a standard minimal set of variables shared across states could enhance patient care. States would exercise their police powers while sharing standard data to decrease adverse consequences of the opioid epidemic.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a rare hematologic malignancy with a 5-year survival rate of 52 %. For transplant-eligible MM patients, high-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) is recommended. Given the complexities of the ASCT procedure, understanding patient-specific factors and their impact on treatment decisions is essential.

Objective: To identify new drugs that present an increased risk of causing significant damage to critically ill patients due to failure in the administration process.
Method: The systematic literature review was conducted in the PubMed, Lilacs, Scopus, Web of Science and gray literature. The year in which the study was conducted was not restricted.
Background And Aims: Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) are a significant health issue that may adversely affect the health and well-being of patients. This study assesses and compares potential DDI (pDDI) patterns, severity, and associated risk factors in government and private hospitals in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Antipsychotic treatment is associated with cardiometabolic risks that may be especially detrimental to children and adolescents. In this Danish population-based cohort study, we included individuals with psychiatric diagnoses who initiated antipsychotics in 2000-2021 at age 6-31 years. We assessed the risk of cardiometabolic adverse events up to 10 years following incident exposure to antipsychotics, compared to age- and sex-matched unexposed individuals with psychiatric diagnoses.

The main aim of this study was to evaluate longitudinal associations between atopic dermatitis (AD) in late adolescence and occupational socioeconomic group, labour market participation, income from work, and marital status later in adult life. Using Swedish population-based registry data a total of 205,394 men were included, born between 1952 and 1956 in Sweden and who underwent military conscription examination including assessment of atopic dermatitis (AD) and AD severity. The associations between AD and AD severity in late adolescence and labour market participation, income from work, marital status, and medication for anxiety and depression later in adult life were examined.
