Intensive glycemic control is insufficient for reducing the risk of heart failure among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). While the "hyperglycemic memory" phenomenon is well documented, little is known about its underlying mechanisms. In this study, a type 1 DM model was established in C57BL/6 mice using streptozotocin (STZ). Leptin receptor-deficient (db/db) mice were used as a model of type 2 DM. A type 9 adeno-associated virus was used to overexpress or knock down miR-320 . Diastolic dysfunction was observed in the type 1 DM mice with elevated miR-320 expression. However, glycemic control using insulin failed to reverse diastolic dysfunction. miR-320 knockdown protected against STZ-induced diastolic dysfunction. Similar results were observed in the type 2 DM mice. , we found that miR-320 promoted CD36 expression, which in turn induced further miR-320 expression. CD36 was rapidly induced by hyperglycemia at protein level compared with the much slower induction of miR-320, suggesting a positive feedback loop of CD36/miR-320 with CD36 protein induction as the initial triggering event. In conclusion in DM-induced cardiac injury, miR-320 and CD36 mutually enhance each other's expression, leading to a positive feedback loop and a sustained hyperlipidemic state in the heart.

Background: One of the etiologic components of degenerative spinal illnesses is intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), and the accompanying lower back pain is progressively turning into a significant public health problem. Important pathologic characteristics of IVDD include inflammation and acidic microenvironment, albeit it is unclear how these factors contribute to the disease.
Purpose: To clarify the functions of inflammation and the acidic environment in IVDD, identify the critical connections facilitating glycolytic crosstalk and nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs) pyroptosis, and offer novel approaches to IVDD prevention and therapy.

Background: Digital health interventions targeting behavior change are promising in adults and adolescents; however, less attention has been given to younger children. The proliferation of wearables, such as smartwatches and activity trackers, that support the collection of and reflection on personal health data highlights an opportunity to consider novel approaches to supporting health in young children (aged 5-11 y).
Objective: This review aims to investigate how smartwatches and activity trackers have been used across child health interventions (for children aged 5-11 y) for different health areas, specifically to identify the population characteristics of those being targeted, describe the characteristics of the devices being used, and report the feasibility and acceptability of these devices for health-related applications with children.

Partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) are increasingly relied upon to provide intensive mental health treatment for youth with acute and severely impairing mental health symptoms, yet very few interventions have been adapted to fit this unique delivery context. Transdiagnostic treatments hold promise for addressing the complex clinical presentations and workflow needs of PHP programs, but more work is needed to understand factors that influence successful implementation. We conducted a formative implementation process evaluation to identify barriers and facilitators of acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility of implementing an evidence-based transdiagnostic intervention in a PHP setting and further targets for intervention and implementation adaptation.

We have demonstrated that the cellular protein M-Sec promotes the transmission of human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) in vitro and in vivo. Here, we show how HTLV-1 utilizes M-Sec for its efficient transmission. HTLV-1-infected CD4+ T cells expressed M-Sec at a higher level than uninfected CD4+ T cells.
