A healthy vaginal microbiota is Lactobacillus-dominated. Several factors can interfere with the state of balance leading to dysbiosis, such as vaginal infections caused by bacteria and Candida species. The present single-arm, uncontrolled open-label study aimed to evaluate the ability of the SYNBIO probiotic combination, taken as an oral formulation, to contribute to vaginal health. Thirty pre-menopausal participants were included in the study. Participants were instructed for daily oral intake of SYNBIO probiotic capsules for 15 days. Vaginal swabs were collected at baseline (T0), 15 days after the start of the treatment (T1), and 7 days after the end of the treatment (T2). Amsel criteria, Nugent score, and vaginal pH were evaluated at each sampling time. In addition, the participants' quality of life was assessed by the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. The administration of SYNBIO once daily for 15 days resulted in a substantial improvement in the vaginal flora in terms of an increase in lactobacilli and a decrease in enterococci, staphylococci, spp., and spp. According to the results, statistically significant changes in leucorrhoea, itching, and vulvo-vaginal erythema/edema as well as a decrease in all the Amsel criteria were recorded. The oral consumption of SYNBIO demonstrated enhanced benefits for vaginal health.

The effects of salt reduction and adequate nutrition intake among older adults with physical frailty remain controversial. Therefore, the present study investigated whether the association between daily salt intake and blood pressure among community-dwelling older adults, including the very old people, based on their physical frailty status. This cross-sectional study used data from the SONIC study, a cohort study on older adults, collected between 2010 and 2012.

Habitual consumption of low-calorie sweeteners (LCS) during juvenile-adolescence can lead to greater sugar intake later in life. Here, we investigated if exposure to the LCS Acesulfame Potassium (Ace-K) during this critical period of development reprograms the taste system in a way that would alter hedonic responding for common dietary compounds. Results revealed that early-life LCS intake not only enhanced the avidity for a caloric sugar (fructose) when rats were in a state of caloric need, it increased acceptance of a bitterant (quinine) in Ace-K-exposed rats tested when middle-aged.

Dapoxetine hydrochloride tablets are the most commonly used drug for the treatment of premature ejaculation (PE). However, the tablets must be taken with water 1-3 h before sexual activity, which makes the medication intake conspicuous and inconvenient. This study aimed to develop taste-masked orodispersible films (ODFs) of dapoxetine hydrochloride using ion exchange resins.
