A dielectrophoresis (DEP) method for direct capture and fast removal of was established in this work. The factors affecting the removal efficiency of were investigated systematically, leading to optimized experimental conditions and improved DEP process equipment. The experimental results showed that our improved DEP method could directly capture in eutrophic water with much enhanced removal efficiency of from high-concentration algal bloom-eutrophication-simulated solution. The removal rate could increase by more than 20% after applying DEP at 15 V compared with a pure filtration process. Moreover, the removal rate could increase from 38.76% to 80.18% in optimized experimental conditions (the initial concentration of 615 μg/L, a flow rate of 0.168 L/h, an AC voltage of 15 V, and frequency of 100 kHz). Optical microscopic images showed that the structure of the captured algae cells was intact, indicating that the DEP method could avoid the secondary pollution caused by the addition of reagents and the release of phycotoxins, providing a new practical method for emergent treatment of water bloom outbreaks.

Background: Chronic air pollution exposure increases accelerates cognitive aging and AD risk. Synapse loss in AD correlates with decreased cognitive ability. In rodents, inhaled air pollutants decreased glutamatergic synapses, decreasing excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs), while increasing total levels of AMPA and NMDA receptor protein.

Purpose: This work addresses the detection of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in histological images with immunohistochemical staining. This analysis is a time-demanding task, currently done by an expert pathologist that visually inspects the samples.

Introduction: Pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) for patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is associated with a high risk of postoperative complications (PoCs) and risk prediction of these is therefore critical for optimal treatment planning. We hypothesize that novel deep learning network approaches through transfer learning may be superior to legacy approaches for PoC risk prediction in the PDAC surgical setting.
Methods: Data from the US National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) 2002-2018 were used, with a total of 5,881,881 million patients, including 31,728 PD patients.

Malaria poses a serious global health problem, with half the world population being at risk. Regular screening is crucial for breaking the transmission cycle and combatting the disease spreading. However, current diagnostic tools relying on blood samples face challenges in many malaria-epidemic areas.

Objective: Our primary objective is to investigate the causal relationships between 12 psychiatric disorders (PDs) and atrial fibrillation (AF), coronary artery disease (CAD), myocardial infarction (MI), and heart failure (HF).
Methods: Firstly, we used linkage disequilibrium score regression to calculate the genetic correlations between 12 PDs and 4 cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Subsequently, we performed two-sample and bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses of phenotypes with significant genetic correlations to explore the causal relationships between PDs and CVDs.
