is one of the most common enteric protozoa that inhabits the intestinal tract of humans and different animals. Moreover, it has a worldwide geographic distribution. Its main mode of transmission is via the fecal-oral route. At present, 26 subtypes are widely distributed across both humans and animals. The current study aimed to determine the prevalence and subtype distribution of among school-aged children living on the Thai-Myanmar border, Ratchaburi province, Thailand. In total, 508 samples were collected from children at six schools. The prevalence of infection was amplified and sequenced in the 600 bp barcode region of the small-subunit ribosomal RNA (SSU rRNA). The overall prevalence of infection was 3.35% (17/508). ST3 (11/17) was the most predominant subtype, followed by ST1 (5/17) and ST2 (1/17). A phylogenetic tree was constructed based on the Tamura92+G+I model using the maximum-likelihood algorithm. Surprisingly, all sequences of the ST3-positive samples were closely correlated with the cattle-derived sequence. Meanwhile, all sequences of the ST1-positive samples were closely correlated with the human-derived sequence. Nevertheless, further studies should be conducted to validate the zoonotic transmission of . Based on our findings, personal hygiene and sanitation should be improved to promote better health in children in this area.

Metabotropic glutamate (mGlu) receptors are candidate drug targets for therapeutic intervention in Parkinson's disease (PD). Here we focused on mGlu3, a receptor subtype involved in synaptic regulation and neuroinflammation. mGlu3 mice showed an enhanced nigro-striatal damage and microglial activation in response to 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP).

Background & Aims: Hernia is a very common surgical condition affecting all ages and both sexes. Data regarding abdominal wall hernias is essential to hernia management in an institution. With the absence of data regarding the prevalence, characteristics, and associations of abdominal wall hernias in Sudanese patients, we aimed to describe and find the possible differences in the spectrum of abdominal hernias, their rates, and associated predisposing factors.

Department of Radiation Oncology, Xiamen Cancer Quality Control Center, Xiamen Cancer Center, Xiamen Key Laboratory of Radiation Oncology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University, School of Medicine, Xiamen University, Xiamen, China. Electronic address:

Purpose: To investigate the clinical value of Clinical Treatment Score Post-5 Years (CTS5) to predict the survival benefits of postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) of patients with T1-2N1 luminal breast cancer (BC).

Methods: Patients who were diagnosed with T1-2N1 luminal BC between 2010 and 2015 were included in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. The chi-square test, binomial logistic regression, Kaplan-Meier analysis, and multivariable Cox proportional hazard model were used for statistical analyses.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) remain a significant global health burden, particularly in China, where kidney dysfunction (KD) is a key risk factor. This study analyzed trends in the burden of KD-induced CVD and subtypes among the working-age population (25-64 years) in China over the past 30 years and explored its association with age, period, and birth cohort.

Methods: This study extracted data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021, focusing on deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) caused by KD-induced CVD and subtypes, including ischemic heart disease (IHD), stroke, and lower extremity peripheral artery disease (LEPAD) among 25-64 years globally and in China from 1992 to 2021.
