(1) Background: Impeded resolution of inflammation contributes substantially to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD); consequently, resolving inflammation is pivotal to the amelioration of AD pathology. This can potentially be achieved by the treatment with specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators (SPMs), which should resolve neuroinflammation in brains. (2) Methods: Here, we report the histological effects of long-term treatment with an SPM, maresin-like 1 (MarL1), on AD pathogenesis in a transgenic 5xFAD mouse model.

This study addresses the complex challenge of Nurse Rostering (NR) in oncology departments, a critical component of healthcare management affecting operational efficiency and patient care quality. Given the intricate dynamics of healthcare settings, particularly in oncology clinics, where patient needs are acute and unpredictable, optimizing nurse schedules is paramount for enhancing care delivery and staff satisfaction. Employing advanced Integer Programming (IP) techniques, this research develops a comprehensive model to optimise NR.

Background: Degenerative aortic valve disease (DAVD) is a multifactorial process. We developed an animal model to analyze the isolated, local effect of reactive oxygen species (ROS) on its pathophysiology.
Methods: We utilized a photodynamic reaction (PDR) as a source of ROS in the aortic valve by aiming a laser at the aortic valve for 60 min after the administration of a photosensitizer 24 h prior.

Obesity is characterized by an imbalance between energy intake and expenditure that triggers abnormal growth of adipose tissues. Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) and its primary active metabolite, monomethyl fumarate (MMF), are Nrf2 activators and have been recognized as strategic antioxidants. This study aimed to evaluate the potential of MMF and DMF to interfere with adipogenesis and obesity, and identify the molecular mechanisms involved.

Granulomas, dense clusters of immune cells and bacteria, are critical barriers in tuberculosis (TB) treatment. Recent advancements in TB management have highlighted granuloma control as a potential host-directed therapy (HDT) strategy. Although isoniazid (INH) is the first-line drug for TB therapy, its efficacy is limited to non-replicating Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) under granulomatous conditions, necessitating the development of more effective derivatives.
