Intervertebral disc degeneration(IDD) is a common clinical degenerative disease of the musculoskeletal system, which increases the risk of lower back pain, severely reduces patients' quality of life and work efficiency, and imposes a large economic burden on society. Mitochondria, as the "power stations" of eukaryotic cells, are involved in many key biological processes, and their abnormal function can induce cellular dysfunction and lead to the development of a series of degenerative diseases. Recent studies have revealed that mitochondrial quality control(MQC) imbalance, characterized by abnormalities in mitochondrial oxidative stress, kinetics, mitophagy and biogenesis, plays an important role in IDD. The research reviewed the progress of the role of MQC in IDD and summarized traditional Chinese medicine monomers and small molecule compounds targeting MQC for the treatment of IDD, with the aim of providing reference and new ideas for studying novel therapeutic strategies for IDD.

We present a novel technique to approach far lateral lumbar pathologies using a bitubular, biportal endoscopic system and a paramedian approach. Background: Conventional approaches for lumbar far lateral discectomy range from open approaches to newer minimally invasive approaches such as tubular discectomy and single portal endoscopic discectomy. We present a case of a patient suffering with a left L3-4 and left L4-5 extraforaminal disc herniation who was treated successfully with a left sided bitubular, biportal endoscopic 2 level far lateral discectomy.

To demonstrate the preoperative workup, surgical planning and execution of transforaminal endoscopic thoracic discectomy (TETD) for a giant calcified disc herniation. Surgeries for symptomatic thoracic disc herniations are rare and challenging. The main goal is to achieve sufficient decompression with minimal manipulation of the spinal cord.

This article aims to demonstrate the uniportal full endoscopic surgery for treating complex anterior and posterior spinal pathology at the T1-2 level, offering a invasive, accessible, stable, and versatile approach to challenging anatomical situations. Uniportal full endoscopic surgery is one of the most minimally invasive spinal surgeries, utilizing slim, elongated, and compact instruments that provide access to lesions from any angle and distance. This characteristic makes the technique especially suitable for hard, such as the T1-2 level, where traditional approaches may be limited or difficult.

The study compared results from (1) interspace-level analyses assuming a common relationship across interspaces (the "interspace-level, common-relationship" approach), (2) interspace-level analyses allowing for interspace-specific associations (an "interspace-level, interspace-specific" approach), and (3) a conventional person-level analytic approach.
Methods: Adults in primary care (n=147) received lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and neuroradiologist-evaluated assessments of prevalent disc height narrowing (DHN), type II MC, and other LDD parameters.
This study aimed to delineate trends in intervertebral disc degeneration among Mexican patients, specifically focusing on the distribution and correlation between BMI and Pfirrmann classification results within the Mexican population. Conducted using the public health database of Mexico City. The study involved 51 patients sampled via convenience sampling, with exclusive utilization of internal MRI data from L4-L5 and L5-S1 discs.
