Background: Natural killer (NK) cells play crucial roles in mediating anti-cancer activity in breast cancer (BRCA). However, the potential of NK cell-related molecules in predicting BRCA outcomes and guiding personalized therapy remains largely unexplored. This study focused on developing a prognostic and therapeutic prediction model for BRCA by incorporating NK cell-related genes.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of natural killer (NK) cells in the progression of multiple myeloma (MM) using advanced single-cell analysis techniques to identify relevant biomarkers.
  • Researchers conducted a thorough examination of NK cells and related genes, leading to the creation of a risk model that predicts patient outcomes based on these biomarkers.
  • The findings suggest significant differences in immune cell infiltration between high and low-risk groups, ultimately aiding in the identification of potential drug targets to improve immunotherapy for MM.

Natural killer (NK) cells are crucial components of the innate immune system that fight tumors and viral infections. Patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) have a poor prognosis, and immunotherapeutic tools play a key role in the treatment of CRC. Public data on CRC patients was collected from the TCGA and the GEO databases.

Background: Bladder cancer (BLCA) is a commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide that exhibits high rates of recurrence and metastasis. Immunotherapy is increasingly being recognised in the clinical management of bladder cancer. In addition, the prospect of developing Natural Killer (NK) cell-related immunotherapy is promising in BLCA.

Natural killer cells are members of the innate immune system and promote cytotoxic activity against tumor or infected cells independently from MHC recognition. NK cells are modulated by the expression of activator/inhibitory receptors. The ratio of this activator/inhibitory receptors is responsible for the cytotoxic activity of NK cells toward the target cells.
