Diabetes is rising at an alarming rate, as 1 in 10 adults worldwide now lives with the disease. In Qatar, a middle eastern Arab country, diabetes prevalence is equally concerning and is predicted to increase from 17% to 24% among individuals aged 45 and 54 years by 2050. While most healthcare strategies focus on preventative and improvement of in-hospital care of patients with diabetes, a notable paucity exists concerning diabetes in the prehospital setting should ideally be provided. This quality improvement study was conducted in a middle eastern ambulance service and aimed to reduce ambulance callbacks of patients with diabetes-related emergencies after refusing transport to the hospital at the first time. We used iterative four-stage problem-solving models. It focused on the education and training of both paramedics and patients. The study showed that while it was possible to reduce the rate of ambulance callbacks of patients with diabetes, this was short-lived and numbers increased again. The study demonstrated that improvements could be effective. Hence, changes that impacted policy, systems of care and ambulance protocols directed at managing and caring for patients with diabetes-related prehospital emergencies may be required to reify them.

Introduction Our pilot Emergency Department Discharge Center (EDDC) facilitates post-discharge appointments, and screens for social determinants of health (SDoH) with a long, paper-based tool. No criteria guide which patients to refer to EDDC for appointment-making. Patients screening positive for SDoH are texted or emailed a list of community-based organizations (CBOs) to contact; the screening tool doesn't assess patients' interest or ability to contact CBOs.

Background: Chlamydia trachomatis is the most prevalent, reportable sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the United States. In 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated treatment recommendations from a single azithromycin 1000 mg dose to doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for seven days for the treatment of chlamydia infections. In response to changes in treatment recommendations and addressing patient barriers to treatment, pharmacists at an urban, academic medical center collaborated with the state health department to create doxycycline kits dispensed upon emergency department (ED) discharge.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the impact of anesthetic methods on the occurrence of postoperative sleep disorders in elderly patients following their discharge from the hospital for 3 months.
Patients And Methods: This retrospective observational cohort study included elderly patients aged >60 years who had undergone general and regional anesthesia from 1 June 2023 to 31 December 2023. These patients were then assessed for sleep by telephone callback using the Athens Insomnia Scale after discharge from the hospital three months later.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate implementation of a digital remote symptom monitoring intervention that delivered weekly symptom questionnaires and included the option to receive nurse callbacks via a mobile app for asthma patients in primary care.
Methods: Research questions were structured by the NASSS (Nonadoption, Abandonment, Scale-up Spread, and Sustainability) framework. Quantitative and qualitative methods assessed scalability of the electronic health record (EHR)-integrated app intervention implemented in a 12-month randomized controlled trial.

Background: Head and Neck Cancer (HNC) is the eighth most prevalent global cancer. Timely recognition of symptoms is crucial for reducing mortality rates. The EVolution of a patiEnt-REported symptom-based risk stratification sySTem to redesign the suspected Head and Neck cancer referral pathway (EVEREST-HN) study aims to develop and evaluate a risk stratification tool using patient reported symptoms, which will be populated remotely in the community before the patient is seen by the clinician to hasten HNC diagnosis.
