Volcanic stratigraphy reconstruction is traditionally based on qualitative facies analysis complemented by geochemical analyses. Here we present a novel technique based on machine learning identification of crystal size distribution to quantitatively fingerprint lavas, shallow intrusions and coarse lava breccias. This technique, based on a simple photograph of a rock (or core) sample, is complementary to existing methods and allows another strategy to identify and compare volcanic rocks for stratigraphic correlation.

Background: Stationary bikes are used in numerous rehabilitation settings, with most offering limited functionalities and types of training. Smart technologies, such as artificial intelligence and robotics, bring new possibilities to achieve rehabilitation goals. Water is a greatly convenient solvent in Raman spectroscopy. However, non-additive effects sometimes make its signal difficult to subtract. To understand these effects, spectra for clusters of model ions, including transition metal complexes and water molecules, were simulated and analyzed.

Background: Improving joint intra-household decision-making by spouses is a promising solution to improve child-feeding practices. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the status and barriers of intra-household joint decision making on child feeding in rural districts of South Ethiopia from the perspectives of primary caregivers and key individuals.
Methods: A mixed-method study was conducted from July 15 to September 15, 2023 in three randomly selected rural districts: Arba Minch Zuria, Mierab Abaya, and Chencha, in Southern Ethiopia.
